Bilal Powell celebrated the New Year in style, carving the Bills up for 122 yards on the ground and adding a receiving TD in the Jets’ 30-10 victory at MetLife Stadium.
Limited throughout the week by illness and a knee injury, Powell set the tone on the Jets’ first play from scrimmage as he exploded for a 23-yard gain. The theme Sunday for Powell was New Year’s Fireworks as he had six carries of 10-plus yards and an additional two carries of 20-plus yards. Powell finished today with a 5.5-yard per carry average, averaging 5.51 an attempt throughout the 2016 campaign.
The Jets’ makeshift O-line took advantage of a struggling Buffalo run defense, often creating daylight for Powell. And oftentimes when there didn’t appear to be room in a hole, Powell stays steady in the storm and is very selective before bouncing and getting up the field.

Powell also posted the game’s first touchdown, catching a 2-yard scoring pass from QB Ryan Fitzpatrick in the second quarter. After rushing for 73 yards in the first half, Powell got off to another rousing start out of the locker room with a 25-yard scamper on the first play of scrimmage in the third.
