I am applying to be a animal control officer I have no prior experience just a love of animals, so it will take a miracle but if I get selected I have to pass a 120 hour animal control academy.

I new you are my kinda guy.. Im admittedly " nutty" when it come to animals. Feeding, squirrels, opossum ,birds , raccoons, deer every day in winter. Don't even want to kill rats. That's where my wife draws the line. Saved quite a few by rescue and to vets. Absolute Dog lover.

In the summer I have a ground hog that comes to my back door for carrots, yea I'm nuts.

You'll get all the training you need in that course. Try not to become jaded discovering the neglect people can impose on animals as you'll see harsh stuff. Just mentally prepare yourself and keep in your mind you are making a difference for a lot of these animals who are totally dependent on people.
Try to educate people into being better owners and try to suggest the proper ways to train and understand animals.
It's very honorable work. Do the best you can. I've helped out many animals on my own and it's a very rewarding feeling.

If you have a love for animals I'm not sure an animal control officer is what you want. Many years ago I dated a lady who did that.
She quit because of the way the animals were treated and destroyed.

My wife is a animal lover..I am an animal liker..we have 3 dogs and 2 cats..had 4 dogs but had to put one to sleep last week..a rambunctious beagle who had cancer tumors all over her body...
