I'm disappointed that we chose a project in the second round but everyone getting upset needs to relax a bit as he is a project. The idea is for the team to break him down and rebuild his mechanics from scratch. Big project. Let's hope he can put it all together

If Petty's injury lands him on the Short term IR if it is deemed that serious then obviously we all know Geno will not be moved any where, Especially with Hack being so raw. Though lets honestly reserve our knee jerk reactions until Petty's results come back later today at 10am. Hoping for the best. This kid proved this pre-season he is ready to take on the #2 role.

Petty could actually come off the the short term IR later this year and be the 3rd stringer behind Geno in case Smith also gets injured.

As far as Hackenbergs performance. I actually liked the fact that he got those reps last night. Believe it or not, he's a type of kid that needed to fail and see how different the NFL is from college. Just like Petty last year, Hack is wet behind the ears. He has so much to build off of. Think of it this way as well fellas:

Hack hasn't gotten pratice time like the other three qbs. His timing was evident that he needs more time to learn his receivers. I'am sure he will absorb as much information this upcoming season and place the work needed to reach that next level come next Julys training camp.
(Not worried about Hack at all). Hell, Browning Nagle looked stellar in 5 straight pre-season games in '92. How'd that turn out? Hack is obviously much more talented than nagle and he has it between the ears to get all of his mechanics fixed.

No way its an AC Separation. You feel your shoulder pop out of place and he stated that it didnt.
He doesn't sound too alarmed about the situation. Maybe because i'am an optimist and thats why i like the kid because he is as well, IMHO.... Just a sore shoulder and he will be fine come opening day. He will be our Back-up.

I feel the Jets brass knew not to place him back in there as they have seen Petty progress very rapidly in year two. I believe he probably could have gone back, but why when you have a legit body of work in all three games this pre season. Hack needed the work at this point more than Petty as he needed that experience to build off from onto next year, as he wont see the field this season anymore.

it is funny how everyone is pissy about Hack's performance last night, remember he was constantly under pressure with all those scrubs er rookies and free agents come Tuesday... He just needs live reps to create film to view and improve his overall body of work... Whomever thought he was going to go in and light up were just fooling themselves, the dude hasn't had any practice reps and everyone is expecting him to step in and be Peyton Manning c'mon...

Like the naysayers last year said the same shit about Petty all see him making major strides after one season in the system... Was Hackenberg a reach, yes I had him as a third round selection...

All this negativity is funny and disgusting... Anyone want to say they be fearless knowing how bad that offensive line is would step in and try to orchestrate the vanilla style offensive game plan knowing you'd likely get killed???

Who is getting pissy? He clearly doesn't appear to be worth a #2 pick in the draft; he is a major project.
I thought Petty looked much better last year compared to Hack, and I rallied, and continue to rally, for Bryce to get playing time. I don't think Hackenberg would even get taken from our practice squad from the body of work I have seen so far. IMO, Big mistake if this team lets Petty walk.

Ordinarily I would think its nuts to cut a 4th RD Pick out of his first training camp, but Brandon Shell has been so awful, so atrocious, even verses other teams scrubs, that I wouldn't let him take up a roster spot. I see no upside with Shell. I see a fat piece of garbage who probably got Petty hurt badly tonight.

He looks terrible and Hack just looks awful. I really like Mac so far, but what the hell did he see in Hack to draft him in the second???
