Interesting setup here there are many ways for the team to improve but as it stands now the team is primed to address the offensive line in this draft... Can grab one of the top 3 interior guards or they can get greedy and strengthen other parts of the offense... Depending on who they deem is the starting quarterback will determine how they proceed in the draft...
If Sam is the guy they stick with then it is possible they trade down and stockpile some picks along the way grabbing Kyle Pitts if he is available then looking to address the right side guard position... Presumably George Fant is getting high praise from the coaching staff even though these are the words of our beat reporters many sources... Right Van Roten is a leader and mentor at this stage of his career but his traits may not translate to this new regime's playbook... Alex Lewis is currently penciled in as the starter, with Cameron Clark the unknown as his backup...
- Wyatt Davis from Ohio State leads the way in this draft as the best guard on the board... He is a left guard but for all purposes he would be penciled at right guard for us...
- The Jets could also get greedy with the signing of backup center/oft guard Dan Feeney and possibly draft a future center like Quinn Meinerz from Wisconsin-Whitewater...
- Jets also can take a flyer on someone like Trey Smith from Tennessee in round 3, could pay dividends down the road...
- Expect the team also on day 3 to pick another developmental tackle to place behind Fant on the roster, this opens the exit for Chuma Edoga unless they kick him inside to guard...
Don't expect the Jets to draft a running back early in the draft, possibly someone in rounds 4 <-> 6... With Josh Adams, Ty Johnson and La'Mical Perine the backfield is decent enough as running back by committee...
We signed Corey Deavis, Keelan Cole to a receiving core that has a veteran in Jamison Crowder and a rookie coming off a so so rookie season in Denzel Mims but the potential is there... Vyncint Smith has vertical speed but is better known as a returner and gunner... Braxton Berrios is the new improved Jeremy Kerley... Some talk about Crowder being a cap casualty but not sure about that, I do expect the team to dabble with another slot style receiver either Purdue's Rondale Moore or Clemson's Amari Rodgers could be the heir apparent for Crowder...
If Sam is not the guy the team could go many ways either trading down once to move out of the top 5 and still get their guy or stick at 2 and take a swing... Trading Sam still on the table to grab another draft pick possibly a 2nd round pick which would change perspective of taking Kyle Pitts to Brevin Jordan with that Sam pick...
Either way I believe this roster is shaping up the draft by the free agents they are signing...
