IMO Rex played aging and injured players over young healthy players too often. He was either too loyal or too stubborn maybe both. Take your pick.

His teams also often played lazy and too rested after bye weeks. He did have blind loyalty that I am also glad is gone.

Im not defending Rex as a head coach, but as a defensive coordinator, ask Brady last year how piss poor our defense was last season...if Rex had these defensive players last year that we're heading into next year with, I feel our defense would have been top 5...what did it finish with Dimitri Patterson and Dee Milliner last year, 8th?

I just think pretending our defense was ever average under Rex is wrong. I just hope Bowles can have as good of a defense while finally adding a pass rusher that doesnt require us to blitz the house every time we need a pass rush...

Mike Westhoff said it best about Rex defense the season after he retired, that you want to be a defense that stops the top 10 not dominate the bottom 5. Rex defense did well against rookie and mediocre QB's but when his defense needed a stop at the end of the half against Rodgers and the Pack it could not get it done. His defense did a great job keeping his poor offense in the game but could not give them extra possessions or field position thru creating turnovers.
