Darnold had no turnovers and didn't make any brain-lock decisions (see: last week), but he provided no spark whatsoever. He completed 21 of 32 passes for 173 yards, a bunch coming in garbage time. Truth is, he struggled against a zone-based defense, continuing a careerlong trend. Darnold has regressed this season, a chilling thought because he's supposed to be their future.

How can they get a true evaluation of Darnold with a second-rate supporting cast? His top weapon, tight end Chris Herndon (one catch for five yards), was a ghost.

Darnold is damaged goods - Bowles did nothing for him - Mono, Gase, and O-line made him scared - there is no salvaging him. It is a shame. Reminds me of Sanchez when we started replacing all his wideout with end of career losers and gave him guys with 0 OC experience running the offense - killed him. Which is funny because his arrow was going up in 2010. Sam had way more talent - but you notice his IT factor isnt even on the field anymore. He is dead man walking. TANK TANK TANK - get a new coach, get Trevor, and use the other #1 pick for a WR. Then throw the entire rest at Defense lol. With Mims, another WR from the draft, Crowder, and Hogan, Herndon we could have a chance with a new HC and Trevor

Trevor will be ruined too. I feel bad for Darnold. Nobody deserves this franchise.

the real problem is there is no flexibility. Gase doesn't or won't allow Darnold the flexibility to audible out of a play.

last year Darnold was given liberty to audible, but for whatever reason so far this season he has been stripped of that ability.

besides the inability to make those adjustments the fluidity of players to plays is off by a great amount. we have 4 tight ends but rarely use more than one at a time, today they used two because of the injuries at receiver. we started with four ended with two by the end of the game.

Team is screwed. Gase is exactly the mistake most knew him to be. You just have to marvel at this team and the way they keep making the same mistakes over and over again. From regime to regime you see the same bullspit repeated over and over. Even Owner to Owner. All You can say is " Fuckin' Jets".

Speaking of Sam-Herndon connection, Darnold threw a strike to him in the end zone and he dropped it. Perfect pass which may have made it interesting, but nothing.

Darnold make a couple questionable decisions, 2 picks dropped o. Them. If the DBs held on we would be talking about them, he doesnt get a pass because they were dropped. Dont forget the pass that was right at Armstead late in the game, you could see the confusion on his face and him looking around to see who Darnold was throwing too. No jet player any where near him. His ball placement was just bad. No quality targets to throw too but he has to put the ball where it can be caught.
Why the decision was made to only dress 4 wrs is mind blowing.
Let's be honest, we played a depleted 49ers team who lost numerous players during the game. The had to deal with the smoke from the wild fires all week and barely got in any practice and the little they did get was light walkthroughs. Then they had to switch airports because their plane was damaged, didnt arrive until after 130am.
This should have been a win. It would have been for 30 other teams in the league.
Gase needs to go but dick bag Chris Johnson just praised him and doubled down on his boy genius, so hes not going anywhere. Remember he prepared the team to face a very good 49ers team, unfortunately the injuries forced him to face 2and and 3rd stringers which he hadn't prepared for....

Looking on the bright side, if we persist with Darnold we won't have to pay him Mahomes-Watson money. Unlike those franchises who are spending half of their cap money on their QB we can invest in some studs elsewhere.

we all agree Sam is better on the move... he pulls the defense in, and receiving targets get open and he hits them constantly...

all this short dink and dunk passing attack, trying to run the ball and throw screens is not for this team...

man in motion, Sam is capable of reading defenses and can audible the play or a single player into the right spot for him to target...

Gase does not want to give him that flexibility, because Sam will get all the credit... But when it all goes to hell, he blames the team... So we in a lose lose scenario... A wannabe "Briiliant Offensive Mind" doesn't know how to call a game... He utilizes the wrong plays at the wrong time...

want to be aggressive on the first play run the end around will draw the defense in then if we had a wide out right over the top with a deep pass... Possibly a Lawrence Cager target deep... but why we do that, the Jets are Gased until we fire him...
