Rapoport: Jets trying to get early 2nd

Multiple sources confirming Macc trying to get up into early part of 2nd tonight. They’re going to have to give up some future draft picks to do it.

Unless Darron Lee is involved. I’ll bet it’s for Greedy Williams.

Too many needs to trade up I think. A trade in to the second will probably involve us giving up both of our 3rd’s. We can’t ignore the O-line completely again. We need a few able bodies to stick there and see how they do

I hope a player or two involved and not draft picks. Lee and maybe a dline men, not named Williams. I mean we have like 20, 300 pound dline men on the team so we can afford to give up one or two !

He’s gonna get killed no matter what he does or doesn’t do with some fans.

There are about 4-5 really good players sitting there at the top of the 2nd round. And at positions the Jets need help at: Center, CB, G/T. Even a few really good receivers. I don’t like giving away all the draft picks, but for a starting caliber player who’ll step in immediately, it’s very tempting.

Honestly, if we had a first rate GM I would have enough confidence in him so as not to be scared that he's trading up for a bust or JAG (Just Another Guy)

But with Mac at GM I'm scared to death he will give away the ranch for exactly that.

How do these names sounds to you: Jawaan Taylor, Cody Ford, Eric McCoy, Greedy Williams, and Byron Murphy.

That has nothing to do with Maccagnan. These are great prospects across the board by most analysts. Is any one of them worth the move up? And don’t attribute their success or failure to Macc.

Really good prospects, no doubt, but if we're trading the ranch we need the one we pick to become a Pro Bowl caliber player.

Every GM is taking risk with every pick they make.

Some get lucky, some don’t. Yes, good scouting departments are essential, but even then, players who get hyped as “can’t miss” bust all the time, and to every team.

He sucks at drafting so maybe he figures he should draft as few players as possible. We have to come out of this draft with a starting center IMO.
