The biggest non-Gase takeaway from Christopher Johnson's nine-minute Q&A with reporters was how he punted on the Adams issue. He said all the right things, calling Adams a cornerstone player, but he passed the buck to Adams and Douglas, in that order, on whether his long-term future is with the Jets.

The Jets can control Adams through 2021 (2022, if you count the franchise tag), so the response should've been, "He's under contract." This tells me they're bracing for a showdown in the offseason, one that could result in a trade. Prediction: Adams tries to become the highest-paid safety. If he pushes the envelope, it will force the front office to make a decision: Re-up or sell him to the highest bidder.

Lsst Monday, I heard Carl Banks on WFAN absolutely effusive in his praise of Adams. Said he belonged on the great Giants' teams, was at the level of Steve Atwater, etc. I sat there thinking WTF? Seems to me that Adams has a bunch of allies who are already promoting him so he can go out in the offseason and demand the world. As jg13 said, big mistake not getting something for Adams from Dallas.

The kid can play the game. He's a really good player. He was worthy of a top ten pick. He gambles, and he'll get burned sometimes when he does, but he also can make game changing plays. I was fine keeping him, and fine trading him if we got enough for him. We're keeping him. Pretty much sums it up. I doubt the Jets will trade him in the offseason.

Unless the Jets get multiple high draft picks for him no need to trade him... Only impact star player on team right now... Hopefully Darnold becomes that too

I think he can grow with the team & be a big star but I see him as a LB/S in todays game. He is nota complete player yet...could he be??????
