Reasonable expectations or maybe not?

So I have to admit Jets faithful, I didn't at all expect the Jets the beat the Giants. I honestly don't expect them to beat both the Pats and Bills also but hopefully I'm wrong. Assuming they beat the Titans and the Cowboys, it will leave the last two. I don't expect them to win both the last two but as long as they win one of them, they should get in with 10 wins as a 6th seed.

I expect the Chiefs to win out and go 11-5. Steelers I see losing 2 out of the next four. So I ask, if this all pans out with 10 wins or even 11, where do you see our Jets going in the playoffs? I think they will be a first round knockout unless they play the Colts but if they have to play the Pats, Bengals or Broncos its a wrap. Do you see a first round lose also, second round lose, AFC championship game lose or SB lose? Hell, we'll even throw in a SB win for shits and giggles!

It all depends on when the Jets get hot. If they peaked against the Gnats, then they won't even see the WC. If they get hot, They'll win the WC but I think they'll lose in round 2.

Problem is the last two division games. First off, division games will always be hard in any division PERIOD. With the Bills and Pats for the Jets, it's added extra that any football fan would know about. You don't need to be a Jets fan to know about the hatred between the Jets and Pats. So the Pats will never do us any favors. With the Bills, there is the Rex factor and whether their in the the playoff race or not by week 17, they will do all they can to knock us out. Jets had their chance to win the game in Metlife and blow it. Now they have to make amends in Buffalo and that won't be easy. NE is NE so that won't be either. Besides the Titans and Cowboys games, the Jets have to beat either the Pats or Bills or they won't get in the playoffs a 9-7 team. 10 wins or better will only do it for our Jets.

I'm not getting excited until we beat the Titans and Cowboys. I will just enjoy the ride, but expect the worst. Still a lot of football to be played.

Good idea. The way the team is so up and down, that is a great idea in fact.

I'm just happy we get to watch meaningful football into December. Been a long time since that has happened.

Exactly. I have my tickets for the Dallas game in two weeks. Would have hated to spend all that money for the trip to see a meaningless game.

Wish i could do that, but as long as I've been a fan, and it's been a very long time, I also get involved in all the Jekyll and Hyde behavior of the team. LOL

The problem is that it's the Jets. It just always seems to happen this way. They're firmly entrenched in the playoff race (wildcard), we fans spend time thinking and talking about the last two games- the importance of controlling destiny and raising hopes- and they drop a game to a team they probably should beat like the Titans.

Damn team has me on anti-psychotics.

Lol, I scream and yell on the inside now to keep me from losing my mind like I used to. By the end of the game, I used to have a sour a shit throat, stomach and headaches from hell from all the screaming, whether we won or lost. Now for the past 3-4 years, I had to start handling it this way before I lost my mind or had a stroke!

The bottom line is that we'll either soar or crash with Fitz. He can be oh so good then signs of what we expected show. This is why fast starts and a steady run game are important. Once we fall behind 13+ points he'll force the ball where he shouldn't. There's no margin for error the next 2 weeks. We must take these games cause they're winnable.

The very last game against the Bills is going to be pivotal. We NEED to win against Tennessee and Dallas. These are winnable games, even with Dallas being an away game. It's possible that we take New England in our house, but it will be a tough game. At Buffalo will be very tough.

We have to win the next two, and definitely against Buffalo. Not sure it matters so much whether we beat NE or not.

We have to beat the Bills just off general principle. Hate to say it like this but even if we don't make the playoffs or even worse, are knocked out the playoffs by that game we can't let the Bills beat us twice. That will be the ultimate vindication for Rex Ryan. Bad enough he came into Metlife and beat us, we have to return the favor in their home. Playoffs or not! Hopefully at that point, beating the Bills will also determine whether they can make it in also. If I'm correct, they have three fairly winnable games until they play us.

You're right- they've at the Eagles, Redskins, and home against the Cowboys. It's a pretty soft schedule. We NEED the game against them for tie breaker purposes.

I'm not terribly concerned about sticking it to Rex, just that currently they own the tiebreaker due to them beating us earlier in the season. If we win the games we should, i think we'll be ok against the Steelers for the wild card. The problem is if our record is tied with Buffalo, they currently win and then it's between them and the Steelers. This is also assuming that Kansas City has a spot locked down, so there's only one wild card spot available.

We should all be pulling for the NFC East the next three weeks.

Playing the W-L game , always proves wrong in the end. We just have to wait and see how things play out. If the Jets can take the next 2, they will be in great position . Let them do that first

Very very unlikely we make the playoffs if we lose to NE unless Pitt collapses. We are really not in that great of shape, we have no buffer whatsoever. A Pitt win at Conce makes it super hard on us.

With 4 games to go, all kinds of unexpected crap can happen.

With that said, IMO if they win 3 out of the next 4, and one of the wins is the Bills, they make the playoffs. The Bills will be a win and in scenario. At least IMO.

Despite win over Giants, Jets' chances of making playoffs are less than 50 percent

The Jets on Sunday won their second straight game, 23-20 in overtime against the Giants, to improve to 7-5.

PLUS: Jets 23, Giants 20: The good, the bad, and the ugly from a thrilling comeback win

With four regular season games remaining, the Jets are very much in contention for one of the AFC's two wild card spots.

So will they make the playoffs?

Here's what the folks at numberFire.com say:

Projected win total: 9.21 (increase of 0.48 wins)

Chance to make playoffs: 48.04 percent (increase of 6.06 percent)

Chance to get wild card spot: 47.74 percent (increase of 5.76 percent)

Chance to win AFC East: 0.3 percent (increase of 0.3 percent)

Chance to reach Super Bowl: 4.02 percent (increase of 1.38 percent)

Chance to win Super Bowl: 1.64 percent (increase of 0.52 percent)

Power ranking: 9th (Jets were 8th last week)

flgreen i can live without making the playoffs at 10-6 so long as the loss is to not buffalo..

the would be a mind numbing scenario for obvious reasons..
