Receivers getting frustrated

Lafleur needs to get Wilson a lot of reps with this during the week. Wilson struggled with the short screen throws initially, but this specific play you mention could really negate teams from loading the box and making Zach beat them in the air. Like you said, both backs are good receivers, too. This can take the offense to a whole new level.

Remember, NFL is all about film study. The book is out and teams will be ready for this come Sunday. Denver has a great defense, we are going to have to be creative and play to our strengths.

I’m expecting another heavy dose of the run game against that defense. We need a simplified passing attack, quick reads, quick throws and let the playmakers do what they do

I see what you are doing but come on now, this is a conspiracy agenda you are pushing without supporting data. Yes Zach is mobile and that helps. But giving him sole credit for 3 straight wins and ignoring everything else (including defensive turnovers and scores, special teams scores, and a running game that is literally racking up almost all of the offensive scores), is just not being realistic.

Yes Zach has avoided some sacks that Flacco would have been toasted in. Yes that is a good thing. Yes Zach has not turned the ball over (great progress). Yes Zach started and we’ve won 3 straight games!

No the passing game is not clicking with Zach and we have to find a way to improve that.

Zach is simply doing what you don't want to give him credit for. Playing smart football and playing within the scheme of the play book. They haven't asked him to do much over the past two games and he hasn't had to. So, he played basic football and didn't mess it up. The Steelers game (mind you that was his first game back) he had to step up in the second half, did so and they won.

The whole part of discussion forums is to discuss. You say I’m not giving him credit for playing safe/mistaken free football but I’ve already said that plenty of times. I just will NEVER give ringing endorsements for someone “not messing up”! That is expected!

You want me to laud him with praise??? I’ll do that as soon as he gives me a reason to. I want him to succeed and excel, but I will never sing praises for mediocrity.

Yeah I hear you on that but look at it like this, the Jets appear to be a very well rounded team, and Zach hasn’t had to do much more at this point other than not mess it up. The team is pretty much carrying him but that’s because their so balanced, not because he can’t hold his own! We all see the talent and potential in Zach. Whether we all want to admit it or not.

He showed a bit of it in that Steelers game. Sooner or later, maybe even this weekend he will have to put the ball in the air 35-plus times and we’ll see how he does then. Even in that Steelers game he was only .55 passing but he was money when it counted most! So he’s already given us a small glimpse of what he can be. Question is can he do it on a regular basis?

I don’t disagree but 0 targets for Moore and Wilson was on the sideline more than on the field. I would be pissed too.

My issue, the QB is paid to throw the ball (that is his primary job). Very tough for me to “love what you are doing” if you can’t do your primary job.

It’s like paying one of my Developers to code software, and their telling me “how great they are at setting up the network”…… Great! But that just isn’t what I pay you to do.

We have so many weapons on offense, we have to be able to use all of it.

No one ever said Flacco should be starting over Zach, but the passing game was more fluid with him behind center.

His short pass accuracy is night and day from last year. Felt like he aired or grounded 9 out of every 10 passes he threw last year.

Denver’s defense is pretty good. I’m expecting a low scoring game. The half time adjustments have been good the last few weeks. I have a feeling it’s going to be important again this week.

I have no problem going run heavy and letting Zach take a few shots downfield throughout the game. I think it’s the smart way to run the offense right now.

From your past post it appears that your saying he’s struggling right now but Flacco wasn’t? If this is the case I get it to a certain extent but Zach did display that he can get the ball to his playmakers in the Steelers game!

He hasn’t in the past two games because he hasn’t had to throw it much. 10 for 18 attempts in the Green Bay game and 14 for 21 attempts in the Miami game. Isn’t jaw dropping stats but not bad at all either! He got the job done.

So it’s really both. Yes Zach has struggled and Flacco hasn’t in the passing game. And yes Zach has had 1 great quarter (in the Steelers game), but hasn’t played well outside of that one quarter.

Even 2 games back, if you look at the bulk of his passing yards, it was gain on that huge catch and run by Hall on the wheel route.

He’s struggled to get it to the receivers. Is that 100% on him “No! There were some drops that they should have had as well” BUT has hasn’t been sharp with his reads or throws and he isn’t impressing at all.

I really don’t know what you’re looking for other than Pom poms and cheerleading. This is honest, actual evaluation. I’ve never said to bench him, I’ve never said he’s a bust. I’ve continually said “he’s struggling in the passing game and doesn’t look sharp, shit at times he looks outright lost!”

If I’ve said something there that is inaccurate please feel free to provide data and analysis to refute it.

I never refuted the record, never part of any of my conversation or posts. So you want to state other things that I never discussed to prove some kind of point?????

Yes 1-2 vs 3-0 is factually the record with the two QBs yet has nothing to do with the passing game that was being discussed and the apparent struggles of the young QB in that aspect.
