I stand corrected.
How many W/R's today with rules favoring the offense avg 20+ yds per catch?? Maynard did in 1967-1969 in the bowl year 1968 he avg 22.8 ypc..
I stand corrected.
Namath threw for 4,000 in a 14-game season. He was the first QB to do so. If he wasn't hurt, he probably would have had way better stats. He's before my time but he gets major respect for what he did and is by far and away our best QB.
EDIT: Removed G&P reference.
That's debatable, I still believe Rex benefited from a ready made team that Herm and Mangini put together. Yes Rex did bring in a new spunk and attitude and a few players with him but that team was ready to be a contender. Rex brought the attitude to help get them there, I will give him that. Plus a Indy game give away didn't hurt either. Now his second year I won't say I give Rex more props but it was a better team. Year three and four (three really) they got fancy and screwed it all up.I agree with everything except the highlighted part.. Ok if Bowles makes 2 AFCCG's his first 2 years I agree he up there with the only other HC that did..LOL

Bowles and Mac are in a different position with this team. Even making the right moves this year they aren't a playoff team this year IMO. I give them 8 games at most. Now his second year should be a playoff year with the right moves and attitude. I'm loving this coaching and management crew already with their thought process, attitude and goals. So I truly don't believe they will even make the playoffs this year but its all good. I rather them struggle for 1-3 years building to success then the other way around.
As far as the QB points you got me but the rest of the team Herm and Mangini did a good job building during their separate era's, you gotta admit that. Listen no debate here, Rex made it happen his first two years with us but it crashed and burned fast because of his and Tanny's bone head decisions. I doubt and hoping and praying that doesn't happen with Bowles and Mac. I believe it happens just the opposite and maintains for the positive for much much longer. Their team is far from playoff ready now so its comparing apples to tomatoes at this point.Yet that ready made team from Herm and Mangini was using QB's Vinny and Chad from the Tuna and Favre that Rex never had.. Plus Mangini never won a playoff game.. Vinny and Chad from the Tuna helped Herm win 2..

Can't remember honestly any specific players but they did make the playoffs twice. In which that team was then handed off to Mangini that he built on. Wait, Herm did draft Pennington, Ellis and Abraham didn't he?Fix the CB problem and get decent QB play and the team has a shot at a wildcard IMO.. I agree Mangini put some nice players in but who were the great one's Herm/Bradway put in?? And don't say Vilma..LOL
