Geez, that's a bit extreme. Besides, I don't know how you can make a statement that no one wants to play for Bowles. Sounds like players love and respect him. Conversely, players love Ryan, but don't have any respect for him. Proof is how lackadaisical they play under him, thus all of the mistakes, etc.

If by mistakes you mean penalties the 5 top penalized teams in 2014 included the Hawks at 1 and the Pats at 5.. The Jets were 18th..

Josh McCown was being courted by the Bills and the Browns. Apparently he sat down with Rex and Pettine separately to hear their thoughts on offensive football and philosophy

and all that stuff

Then he signed with the Browns

and all that stuff

EXACTLY. This guy Old#15 truly does not get it. This is the problem with the fanbase of the NYJ. The players played their A$$es off for Rex Ryan no matter the circumstance. Meanwhile, he says they loved Rex but they didn't respect him. HOW can you possibly love someone and NOT have respect for them?! I think that may be the most off the wall post I have ever heard.

Please describe how his beloved defensive players played their ASSES off for Rex for the entire 120 minutes of the two Bills games, and particularly on the final long screen pass TD play in OT vs Minnesota

The really pathetic thing is... Harvin is the ONLY talent the team had. But the Jets have no choice but to cut this guy. 10 million is way too for him given you can't even nail him down to one position. He does a LITTLE in a LOT of different phases/positions. There's always a chance after he gets cut, that the Jets can renegotiate a new contract with him, but I doubt that happens.
Percy Harvin wants to play for HC's with a resume or a personality. BB has a resume. Rex has a resume (albeit nothing like BB's) and he has a big personality. Players love to play for him and I would imagine that includes someone like Percy Harvin.
So there's really TWO HC's that will attempt to sign Harvin in this division no less, NE and Buffalo. Either one of them will sign him and he'll say, "FU NYJ and your pathetic, sh*tty team". And really that will serve Rex or BB twofold....They make their division opponent that much weaker (as if the Jets weren't bottom feeders to begin with) and make their own team that much better.
This is going to be a common theme. There will be many players on the roster right now that will defect for the Buffalo when they get their chance. They WANT to play for guys like BB or Rex. They DON'T want to play for two f*cking nobodies in Mcgagme and Todd bowl of sh*t.

I agree people will go to buffalo but they like playing for him because he is more your best friend you have beers with than a actual HC.

who in the world would rather work for donald trump when you can turn around and work with your best friend who thinks you are the best ever?

Like Mainejet stated. Harvin was one of the few talented people we had, especially on offense.

The Jets, with all their cap space, should try to keep Harvin. He is a great asset to have and I do think that Gailey could design certain plays to take control of his skills. $10 million is steep though but the fact that his contract is non-guaranteed, I think it's fine to stick with him.

I did say earlier in this thread that he wasn't going to get $10 million but I just dk where we are going to spend all our money. Might as well keep $10m invested in Harvin so we can cut him whenever we want without a hit in future years.

I would rather reunite gailey with stevie johnson than pay harvin 10m and lose a 4th rounder

Cut him and let him test the FA waters..That way we keep the 4th and maybe sign him down the road for the right price..

No need to get personal, we all have our own opinions.

I have to agree with old#15.

The players may have loved Rex, but they never had to fear much in the way of consequences from him. He had their back to a fault. Sure they loved him, because there was little to no accountability.

Possibly true...but there were 11 on the field including fast runners and the ONLY guy who had enough pride to chase a pass catcher about 80 yards to try and stop the winning TD was 300+ pound #91 Sheldon Richardson

This is correct. Even Woody alluded to lack of accountability in his press conferences before and after the Bowles hire

Me too. Ryan had the team ready for war when we played the Pats, Steelers, Ravens, or any team his brother was associated with. Outside of that, it was a mixed bag. It was like Ryan looked down on certain opponents, and that attitude rubbed off on his players and reflected in their preparation. Demario Davis, Nick Mangold, Wilkerson, and Richardson all questioned the team's work ethic during the practice week. Coming off bye weeks, this team looked lost. In back to back seasons, we were humiliated by the Bills. In 2013, Ryan took the team to Dave and Busters the night before the game. I guess he felt the bye week was too stressful and the team needed to unwind:hopelessness: Then, last season, we play a displaced Bills team who couldn't practice all week and got our tails kicked right from the start. It's never Ryan's fault. It's the 3 OC's, 2 GM's, 3 Special team's coaches, Qb's, etc. Zero accountability.

My goodness, I just realized that I was posting in a PERCY HARVIN thread. What has gone on here in the last 24hrs??

LOL - there has been major derailment in two of our threads. the name change one and this one. the name thread changed from a discussion about the name, to why the jets should be called NJ Jets (Hyatt) and then it turned into a Rex Ryan thread. Same with this one but I honestly do not mind the name thread getting derailed. It's just all of us chatting away. It's fun. Not much else going on!

As for this one, I tried getting it back on topic lol.

Look we all agrre the guy got talent BUT is he worth 10MM for a guy that added marginal value to a pathetic team. It seem to ne his 1st gaem when they force fed him the ball he still had little impact. So like I said before if true cut him... and draft cooper, white, etc. Younger and better WR

Clearly not worth 10 M and 64 spots in the draft

Not sure he's worth half that.

If he had taken a knee on every KO our net starting field position might have the same or a few yards less

A small number of returns to mid field vs a relatively larger number between the 10 and 15

Not that better FP would have mattered much with CJ running into the line and Geno running backwards
