Report: Jalin Marshall facing four-game ban

New York Jets wide receiver Jalin Marshall will be suspended the first four games of the 2017 season after testing positive for performance enhancing drugs, according to a report from the Daily News on Tuesday.

Marshall tested positive for Adderall, sources contend.

Undrafted out of Ohio State last offseason, Marshall emerged as a promising figure in the Jets’ younger rotation, proving his worth to the team following a successful preseason showing.

He finished his rookie year with 142 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games.

Not a yikes.Lots of UDFA guys out perform a lot of high draft picks and Marshall seemed to show more than Smith when they had opportunities.

With that said, I agree with Blindside. I wasn't a fan of Marshall but only because he made me feel like he would fumble every time he touched the ball.

yeah, i have heard rumors to that effect..

thing is, as i have already mentioned, marshall didn't exactly set the NFL on fire his rookie season..

yet smith was never able to pass him on depth chart after returning from the PUP list..

that's not a good refection on smith or maccagnan..

maccagnan, to this point only has williams to show as a successful draft pick in rounds one & two..

& hell, williams fell in our laps..

that's worrisome.. to me at least..

Well you can knock Mac for a bad pick like Smith but give him credit for Finding a better option at UDFA in MArshall as well as drafting another better option in Peake and of course for finding Roby Anderson as an UDFA as far as WR's go... Mac is hitting more than he is missing IMO...

I'm not sure why adderall is classified as a PED. I have cut and pasted the "WebMD" definition of the drug below:

"This combination medication is used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder - ADHD. ... This drug is also used to treat a certain sleeping disorder (narcolepsy) to help you stay awake during the day"

Apparently, a player may use the drug but has to apply for an exemption. Marshall claims that he did not apply for the exemption 'this time'. I'm not sure I know what that means, but am willing to cut him a break this time. You can criticize him for fumbling or not being a dynamic kick returner, but to characterize him as a loser for this is kinda ridiculous in my opinion. Maybe he just a 24 YO kid who made a mistake.

“It increases alertness, aggressiveness, attention and concentration. It improves reaction time, especially when fatigued. Some think it enhances hand-eye coordination. Some believe it increases the mental aspects of performance.”

so for athletes unless they actually have ADHD they are using it to get that edge or get that high from the Amphetamine in Adderall...

I am not a fan of Marshall now after the year he had as a rookie,,, But going into the season last year he looked like he was dynamic on Offense and dynamic on ST.... His rookie year didn't pan out one because of injury and i suspect he played without confidence after his first fumble. So me not being a fan of based on that shouldn't be confused with the kid has talent and even with a poor rookie season he still had flashes of potential that Devin Smith still hasn't shown. I was hoping Marshall would get his confidence back and stay healthy because I think his skill set is needed more than Devin Smiths IMO.... We have a burner in Anderson that can do more. We have 3 big WR's in Decker, Peake and Enunwa (all over 6'2). Would be nice having a shifty, quick slot guy like Marshall to mix it up and he is still 5'11 .... But yes I am not a fan of cause he scares me with his ball control and now with the off-field issues we can release him for all I care.


And the debate was about Mac more so than Marshall. I think he brought in 4 Wr's in the last 2 years and 3 of the 4 have shown some good potential as young guys in Anderson, Peake and Marshall. With Smith not showing much with his limited time..... so 3 out of 4 is a real good % when picking and ev en 2 out of 4 is real good if Marshall doesn't recover from the off field crap..

Ok, thanks for that. When I think PEDs, I think steroids but I can see how the adderall would be a big plus as well for these guys.

I agree with that.... Not sure any gm can miss in Rd's1 and 2 and save themsleves with UDFA on the reg.... With that said I still think Lee will be fine at LB.... I truly believe the schemes was all F*%$*d up last year because they were trying so hard to play Richardson, Mo, and Williams at the same time. If (when) Richardson gets traded we will see a better scheme one in which Lee will benefit from.. But 100% agree we gotta get 1st and 2nd rounders right.

i think you both raised very fair points..

even if we don't unload richardson, (i'd would move him to the highest bidder & be done with him) it would be inexcusable for bowl/rogers to trot him back out at LB again.. it was a failed experiment that certainly didn't do lee any favors..

& if bowles/rogers want to play "smartest guys in the room" again with that foolishness, it would be a mid season fireable offense in my book..

If Richardson isn't traded and Bowles//Rogers try and do the same shit they did last year... Fire them immediately. They were to cute for their own good last year and we paid for it and with the Front 7 we do have the scheme should be masking the problems in the secondary not exposing them
