Report: Jets decline Ryan Clady’s option

The Jets have made their decision on Ryan Clady.

The team has informed the veteran offensive lineman’s agent that they do not intend to exercise their existing option for the 2017 season, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

As such, Clady will become a free agent.

The Jets save $10 million in cap space as a result of the move.

Clady joined the organization last offseason and suffered a shoulder injury in Week 2, eventually being consigned to the injured reserve list a month later.

Injuries have followed Clady throughout his career, in which he has appeared in just 29 out of 64 career NFL games.

Revis has been quiet. I think he renegotiated or retires. Normally he's vocally selling his services at this point if he's searching for a team.

can't see revis walking away from his contract.. LOLz i can't see him taking a pay cut either..

have to think they are hoping with a full off season working on fundamentals, footwork and stamina he could be a real option on the left side... he really wasn't horrible last season, he just wore down too quickly because he wasn't prepared for that type of workload...

Is a depth signing, not a starter ideally, I don't have aby issue with it. In fact, I think it's necessary after how well he played and how thin the market is.

Well he's not playing out his contract, so either he accepts a cut since only 6 mill is guaranteed this year, or he's cut outright.

Maybe MM is targeting a LT like Ramczyk in 1st or Bolles in 2nd. Regardless, we need a young guy capable of stepping in, if not immediately then certainly within '17 season.

Depth. I doubt he beats out Shell on the right side, and I expect LT will be addressed in the draft or in some way.

reason they released him because they don't believe he is worthy of that $10 M salary...

With his durability issues , I seriously doubt a team will be looking hard at Clady in FA . I can see the two sides coming to an agreement . For Clady , it's a chance to continue in football as a starting OT , and for the Jets , retaining a veteran player , who , when healthy , is still a very good player.

from what I heard the Jets are looking to bring Clady back for no more than $3.5 Million for one season, with little to no guarantees probably with an escape clause on his durability a big question... if any bonuses will be at signing if at all...

In that neighborhood,it's a no brainer. Keep some continuity wroth a very talented older player.
