The New York Giants, Los Angeles Chargers and Cleveland Browns have an interest in former New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

The Georgia native was a second-round selection out of West Virginia in 2013. Since that day, he has played in 33 games. However, he has played in just three games over the past two seasons. In those opportunities, he completed 35-of-56 passes for 391 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.

The Chargers and Giants would both be backup roles. However, Smith could potentially compete for a starting job in Cleveland.
Best option to get a better compensatory pick would be if he goes to Cleveland... Regardless of length contract the value would need to be in the $8 M range annual... If he starts and plays the whole season as the starter we could receive a 4th, but if he is successful it could elevate to a 3rd...

If he goes to the Chargers or Giants expect nothing more than a 5th unless the starter gets hurt it may become a 4th but that is highly unlikely...

Haha THATS AWESOME! I said it when Geno was dropping in Draft & Idzik was excited taking Geno in 2nd round and couldnt figure out why Geno fell out of the first round when having 4000yds passing season in college. Well thats because other GM's looked and noticed over half of 4000yds was YAK yds. Even worse Geno accuracy falls greatly after 10 yds & most of his passes was screen & never under Center. So now 4 years later & ZERO improvement taking ball under Center & still stares at WR's telegraphing his passes while still throwing to double & triple covered WR's he is now has any value? Geno had BUST written all over him & Jets got so caught up in other teams hype & fell for it. I wonder why Jets GM's dont watch tape or check stats? Genos YAK yds being 2000yds & mostly 1yd passes is why 32 teams passed on him & even a few more into 2nd round. So have at Geno as long as you run the shotgun & want to stop your running game from showing defenses run 10yds back & him staring at the 1 wr causing him to be double covered & still throw his inaccurate pass 2yds in front or behind or over wr head..

Geno was hardly the worst pick by Jets. Jets had 2 top 12 picks & Idziks entire years Drafted 1 guy Richardson as a hit & Milliner CB also high risk bust potential facing twice a year in College a NFL wr caliber & Jets took Milliner above Richardson at 9th. So many good players Jets could have had at 9th with Richardson at 12. I think Richardson would have went higher but teams were worried about his attitude on & off the field effecting his play or even suspension & not playing at all. So Geno wasnt Jets worst, Milliner CB was by far the biggest bust & barely played, Coples not far behind Gholston, jeez Jets GM's are awful at Drafting LB's-CB's-QB's...lol I would never take a CB in top 20 picks in first round. 2nd round yeah. Not many CB's taken in top 10 turn out to be great & odds not with CB.
