The Bills game and the KC game last year did it for me ..... I am disgusted because he seems to be totally clueless, i.e., when asked where Pryor was his response three times or more was its voluntary. I mean WTF, didn't this stooge learn anything from last year?

hey coach, why didn't put that "one" hit wonder who never ever wraps up anyone on notice.... no we get the deer in the headlights look. 2018 can not get here fast enough ....

Good article today in ESPN about ASJ's physical and mental about face. He has lost 25 pounds after spending the offseason working with a trainer in Vegas of all places. He also appears to have turned it around mentally. Good to hear, coupled with the new OC and young competition in Leggett, we may have some balance on offense with the resurgence of the TE position.

A look at what's happening around the New York Jets:

1. Wishful shrinking: Austin Seferian-Jenkins, acquired last September at the low point of his career, is making a concerted effort to improve himself, personally and professionally. The Jets have witnessed a remarkable transformation over the last few months, as the veteran tight end has dropped about 25 pounds. His weight ballooned to the mid-280s last season, and now he's down to 260, according to his agent, Brian Fettner. He was listed last year at 262, but that was just a rumor.

The slimmed-down Seferian-Jenkins jumped out in the first OTA practice, demonstrating the athleticism and receiving ability that made him a second-round pick for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2014. He was a diligent participant in the offseason conditioning program and also trained with a fitness guru in Las Vegas, where he worked out three times a day and took a hot pilates class.

Oh, the irony: Some people go to Vegas to get crazy and over indulge; Seferian-Jenkins went there to get his mind and body right.

Fettner called it "a mental and physical lifestyle change," adding, "The light went on, and he's really dialed in."

The Jets pulled Seferian-Jenkins off the scrap heap last September, claiming him on waivers after he was released by the Bucs following a DUI arrest. To make matters worse, an embarrassing police video surfaced, showing him making crude remarks in the back of the cruiser. Seferian-Jenkins, who also had a DUI in college, was suspended for the first two games of the season.

After a nondescript 2016 (10 catches in seven games), Seferian-Jenkins rededicated himself for the final year of his contract. This is potentially good news for the Jets, who have rediscovered the tight end under new coordinator John Morton. They're actually planning to throw passes to the tight end! Seferian-Jenkins could be the ideal fit in Morton's West Coast-based system if he continues his resurgence.

This was actually an interesting article from Cimini. It may not mean much during the season but it was good to note that he seems to be serious.

  1. Connor Hughes ? @Connor_J_Hughes
Was talking to Jamal Adams by his locker. McCown walked over- "You're getting better everyday. Keep it up." Rookie earning high praise #Jets
To me this is good on a couple of levels: first that the kid is looking good, and McCown showing some veteran leadership by giving him a pat on the back.

Not exactly the kind of response to competition that Bowles is looking to see out of Pryor:
  1. Rich Cimini ? @RichCimini
S Calvin Pryor, who worked with the third-team defense in practice, declined to speak with reporters afterward. #Jets

I've always expected him to be our starting te. With all of the bums doing just enough to not get cut, it's refreshing to hear about somebody actually working on their craft.

Saw a tweet from today that the defense was making plays all practice, but ASJ was catching everything thrown 'his way'. A QBs best friend is a 6'5" TE with a large catch radius.

And just when you think Cimini himself may have turned the corner, he comes out with an article like this... [h=1]Morris Claiborne fits Jets' scheme, but key question: Can he stay fit?[/h] Seriously? Did anyone who has ever watched a football game not know this???

I don't see a starter in ASJ? I just don't think he's that good? Now he may start with this team only because they have no talent at TE. But that doesn't mean he's an acceptable solution for when the Jets hopefully become contenders?

I am really hoping Jordan Leggett comes on strong. He's more the X factor in this because no one knows how good he can become?

If a sober ASJ is half as good as he was in college, he can be a very solid starter and a big help to the offense.

I see ASJ and Leggett as very similar players, particularly with ASJ's weight loss. I predict that the two of them catch a combined 60 balls this year and 8 TDs. More importantly, their presence should open things up on the outside for Deck/Enunwa/Anderson. I am cautiously optimistic.

i want to be greedy.. seferian-jenkins seems to have a new lease on both his life & career & leggett is big fluid athlete..

but i could certainly live with 60 & 8 between the two..

  • Ben Ijalana continues to hold down left tackle as Kelvin Beachum deals with knee soreness. ...
  • Is there a punt returner in the house?
