I was extremely pissed when Riggens left

Al toon was incredible to watch

Loved Gastineau , robbed of the sack record , loved the dance

Dennis injury happened right in front of our seats
I can still visualize it in my mind

How is Howie Long in the HOF and Gastineau not even an afterthought ? How’s he in and Klecko not ?

OK. I'll admit it. I never liked Wesley Walker. Before anyone starts throwing things, let me explain why.
I thought AL Toon had a chance to be one of the premier receivers in the history of the league- strong, fast, good hands.
But because Wesley Walker was the other receiver, and was blind in one eye, the Jets designed plays to keep Walker's good eye out of danger - sideline cuts and out-and-up routes. As a result, Toon had the inside routes, where he was constantly banged up in every game. (especially under the looser rules of that time) I felt that limitation of his routes shortened his career and didn't allow us to see the really great player he could have become.

Wait you’re blaming Walker for Toon being hit in the head numerous times and shortening his career.
Just maybe the QB throwing the ball had something to do with it.

I'm saying it was the game plan they were forced to use because they were protecting Walker.

I hear what you’re saying. Toon got his brains beaten in running over the middle a lot. And yea, Walker was definitely the deep receiver. Too short of a career for Toon. Great player.

This team needs another Mark Gastineau in the worst way.

Jermaine Johnson please be that guy.
He’s not built that way. He’s built more like John Abraham . We will be just fine getting after the QB . I’m waiting to see how we stop the run . I think we have a solid plan but we will see what we will see

#99 = 6'5' / 265
#52 = 6'5' / 262

they are built the same.

wow... that is an interesting take that i have never heard before. but it makes complete sense.

i always love one eyed wes.
i always blamed Kenny O for Toon and Shuler.
i always blamed Mgt for allowing the Oline to wither that led to Kenny getting shell-shocked.

same stature not the same game let's get that straight.
Not even the same stature . They weight is proportioned differently if that makes any sense. Two guys weighing the same and measuring the same height but looking completely different. Gastineau looked like a body builder compared to JJ. The other thing is one guy excels at setting the edge while the other excels at getting around the edge. Two completely different types.

IMO JJ is an upscaled Bryan Thomas . That a pretty darn good player in my eyes.
