He's better than Bowles lol

Rex may be brilliant in certain things but he failed at being a head coach. Teams were undisciplined and leaks came from every which way. Those are not good qualities. He needs to take some time off and reflect on how to improve. Unfortunately, I think the only way he knows how to coach is to be a loud mouth. That doesn't work anymore

That ship has sailed.

I loved his comment about how he'd only consider a "real situation" in the future, and how he got "*ucked".

He got 5 years in NY. Two AFC Championship appearances, and then a sharp nosedive at the end. The inmates began running the asylum, and Rex blamed it all on Idzik.

No chance in hell he comes back to the Jets.

I never wanted to lose him, he is a clear talent. The challenge is getting to accept anything less than ahc position. Nobody had players more loyal to them than rex, and his schemes are brilliant. You want to try to have a mind like that fit in some where.

Rex was in trouble, but idzik certainly did fail in epic fashion. Idzik was the worst gm hire in history. You can't deny that.

Anyway, as I very clearly stated, I wouldn't want him to be head coach, but he clearly is a rare talent. You'd like to have him for in somewhere. I'd be fine with assistant hc/ defensive coordinator. Except Bowles is a defensive coach.

A return to the Jets in any role is highly unlikely. I believe they've turned the page on Rex. For all his defensive accomplishments with the Ravens, and first few years with the Jets, his defense's weren't nearly as dominant towards the end. And he never finished with a winning record as a HC after 2010, with either the Jets or Bills. Idzik didn't help with that 2013 draft, but it was far more than that. The Santonio Holmes meltdown and other locker room dustups, creating distractions with his bold predictions of going to the Super Bowl (LT said many players felt unnecessary pressure from that), claiming the Bills quit on him following his firing this past year, etc. There's always a lot of drama surrounding Rex. His foot fetish revelation was something I really didn't need to know about either. :global (37):

I just don't see it happening. Even if Bowles were to be fired at some point. I cannot see him brought back in any capacity.

I don't think it's realistic, I just think he's a good guy to have on the coaching staff.

Woody was forced to turn the page on Rex based on the fans irrational bitching. I wonder if Jets fans would have signed up for Mac and Toilet when they busy trying to get Rex fired? I think not. It's pretty obvious Rex is a MUCH better HC than toilet will ever be. Not that that is any huge feat, Toilet is a close second to Rich Kotite.

I always thought that for Rex, the next place after the Bills was behind a desk on ESPN or one of the network pre-game clown shows

He'd be perfect there. Rex is a clown, and I don't mean that in a demeaning way. He's funny and engaging, and seems to know players well. Perfect for TV.

Unfortunately, he can't keep the circus out of his locker room. And his abilities as a HC were exposed over the last 6 years with NYJ/BUFF.
