The issue with Rex is, where does the bluster end and the actual analysis begin? Who knows what he actually thinks about any of his players or coaches? At first, it seems like he's confident in his players, and they like that, but over time it becomes clear that HE WILL TALK UP ANY PLAYER, NO MATTER HOW GOOD OR BAD THEY ARE, AS LONG AS THEY ARE ON HIS TEAM. Suddenly, it means jack shit when he says how good you are. Effusive praise delivered indiscriminately has a numbing effect. Rex comes in and says "this guy can be a pro bowler," and it means NOTHING, because he would say that about anyone.
So the question then becomes, what are his real feelings about his players and coaches? If he really believes the things he says, he is delusional, and if he doesn't, then he's full of crap, essentially.
