100% of NFL coaches really want to win for their teams

Some are capable enough to get it done

Some spend 6 seasons boasting...."I know I'm gonna get it turned around this season with my "bullies"....but don't have the ability to back up their boasts.
you're right.. but I do think being the jets head coach meant a little more to ryan because his dad won here..

i'm sure he envisioned comparing jet superbowl rings with his father..

that would have been special beyond special..

Rex Ryan interview with HBO real sports airs later on in August but here's a preview of it. When Andrea Kramer asked about the jets, our former coach broke down and cried. He really wanted to win for us

Yup. That's the guy I know and respect. He wears his emotions on his shirt sleeve and I do not believe that's a bad thing.

There were many things that I disagree with his approach on, but all in all Rex Ryan is a very good HC. I also truly believe that if Rex gets a QB in Buffalo? The Bills will win it all.

I truly believe Rex was good enough to win a superbowl for us. He wasnt provided with a good team the last few years. Rex has his faults but he couldnt have still got it done. Like any coach he needs a QB. Some coaches have the ability to develop one, some dont.

Just because you arent an expert at developing a QB doesnt mean you arent a good coach.

Sad thing for Rex IMO is nothing will change for him with the Bills. At least not this year. They will still compete though thats for sure. I wish him well just not against us.

Actually not good enough to win a Superbowl for us with that good team you claim he WAS provided with for the first few years

Got pretty close. Did more with rookie QBs than pretty much anyone. 9-7/AFC champ game with Sanchez and 8-8 with Geno and the least talented Jets team I have ever seen.

Year two was our chance if we ever had one.

First you said you thought he could win SBS until those last few years when,.presumably, that evil Idzik provided him with bad talent

Now almost was good enough even with terrific talent

No coach is going to win it every year with top level talent. There are other factors. He was also a young HC at the time. I'm saying he showed enough then to prove he could win it all if you ask me. I said, year 2 was a missed opportunity. We blew it against the Steelers.

That doesnt mean Rex could never win a Superbowl just because he didnt win it then.

Matt Cassel - QB - Bills
Matt Cassel will start Friday's preseason opener against the Panthers.
Cassel gets the nod over E.J. Manuel and Tyrod Taylor. It suggests he has his nose in front of this hideous three-man battle, but this job is far from decided. Coach Rex Ryan has already said he may not even name his starter until just before Week 1. No matter who wins out, they'll be asked to hand the ball off and avoid mistakes as the Bills try to win games with their defense.

Rex Ryan outlasted one general manager, Mike Tannenbaum, during his time with the New York Jets and, according to an upcoming episode of HBO’s Real Sports, he would have outlasted a second if it wasn’t for the high pressure of the market.

“We talk like brothers,” he said of the Jets owner Woody Johnson. “And I know Woody never wanted to fire me. I could have been his coach for 20 years, that’s what Woody wanted. There’s no question Woody wanted that.”

But he said he couldn’t have stayed in New York this season.

“There’s no chance that he could have brought in another GM and kept me again. There’s no way. It wouldn’t have worked in New York. They weren’t going to allow it. The media wouldn’t allow it. It wasn’t going to work.”

Instead, after a 4-12 finish last season, both Ryan and general manager John Idzik were fired.

“We’re in the win business … and we’re not winning,” Johnson said at the time.

Rex Ryan’s latest slam: I knew I’d be fired with terrible Jets

Rex Ryan’s latest slam: I knew I’d be fired with terrible Jets

Rex Ryan can’t stop talking about the Jets.

The Bills coach has been talking about his firing from the Jets for a few months now. The latest interview airs on HBO’s “Real Sports” next week. In it, Ryan said he knew the Jets would stink in 2014. He was right. They finished 4-12.

“I knew we weren’t going to have a good team when we never did anything in free agency,” Ryan said, taking his latest shot at John Idzik, the Jets general manager who was fired after last season.

Despite proclamations last year that he had confidence in the Jets, it is clear Ryan was just putting on a show and being a company man.

“100 percent I knew I was done,” Ryan said when asked if he expected to be fired even before the season began. “Yep, 100 percent.”

Ryan clearly has plenty of disdain for Idzik, but he continues to express the strong feelings he still has for Jets owner Woody Johnson, the man who hired him in 2009 and fired him last year.

“We talk like brothers. I know Woody never wanted to fire me,” Ryan said. “I could have been his coach for 20 years, that’s what Woody wanted. There’s no question Woody wanted that.”

Ryan was asked if he believes he could have remained the Jets coach.

“Maybe. But I’ll tell you this — he couldn’t [keep me],” Ryan said. “There’s no chance that he could have brought in another GM and kept me again. There’s no way. It wouldn’t have worked in New York, they weren’t going to allow it. The media wouldn’t allow it; it wasn’t going to work.”

Listen I know everyone here hates Rex, but this is exactly what I had been claiming long before Rex got on TV and said as much. John Idzik was an idiot and he not only screwed the team for years, but he also boned Rex's career in NY.

I can agree with the Idzik part, but Rex also had some blame for him getting fired and Bowles is cleaning up a locker room mess left by Rex.

Who is the Circus Clown going to blame when he gets shitcanned at the end of this or next season after he drags Doug Marrone's promising 9-7 Bills down into the AFC East toilet?

He's already well on the way by getting rid of Jim Schwartz and their other quality coaches and hiring Thurman, Lal and the rest of his gang of incompetent sycophants as coaches

Will they be the "best 4 win team in football" too?

I like Rex but it was his time to go. As more time progressed the teams discipline regressed. That's a sign of the coach regardless of whoever the players were that Idzik brought in.

I believe you misread, he disclosed that you need aqb to win, and that Rex did pretty well with a rookie Sanchez and geno, and obviously had a window.

Clearly the team assembled performed well and was fun to watch, Mr t didn't replace talent successfully and was fired. Idzik then decided to strip the team and save money while insisting he wasn't.

Everybody has faults, Tom Brady and bellicheck couldn't win a Superbowl with an undefeated team.

If Rex went to Atlanta, like many thought, I would've rooted for him. In Buffalo, he's dead to me.
SAME HERE, Wicker, the moment he chose Buffalo (to stick it to the Jets), he became my mortal enemy. If he wanted to be remembered fondly with Jets fans, he shouldn't have chosen a division rival out of spite. Shoulda taken the Atlanta job.

I don't believe Rex ever chose Buffalo over Atlanta. Rex took the only HC job offered. The Falcons were just stringing him along waiting on Quinn.
