Road to the Jets: QB Bryce Petty

Petty grew up 25 miles south of Dallas where I'm from so I have a little extra hope for him. Part of me wants to believe the "what if" our future franchise SB winning QB is from my area. The other part of me remembers I'm a Jets fan and well you all know the rest.
Today Gailey must know what down it is & call the RIGHT plays for Petty not putting him in 3rd & long. Gailey must do his job & am disgusted he doesnt know what down it is when sending plays down from his skybox. Its all on Gailey if Petty does well or fails with his awful play calling.
problem is he didn't do any of that and left Petty out to dry... Gaily needs to go along with DC and HC
The analysts in the post game show all wondered why the coaches put handcuffs on Petty and retreated into their shell in the second half, instead of letting Petty air it out.
They will have to answer for that decision. A reporter tried to ask that of the HC in the post game poresser and he deflected it.

I think there's too much blaming of Gailey. I know the playcalling has been questionable at times, but Bryce Petty played like a rookie today. He missed a few wide open receivers today. (Enunwa and Anderson). He threw a last minute INT that killed any chance of winning. That shovel pass right into the back of a lineman's helmet was ugly, too.
Let's not paint Petty as a victim of circumstance. He gets some of the blame too.

Not a very inspiring performance from Petty but he's young and learning, so I'm very hopeful he will get to where we all want him to be. The problem is, will TB use this BLAH performance from him to bench him for Fitzshitty? They have the bye week to figure it out, but I'm worried this is the route TB will go! Doesn't matter because any QB we have out there, we will get crushed by NE anyway but it would be nice to see Petty or Hack in there leading the team.
Note: I'm also wondering if better play calling from Gailey would have lead to a better performance from Petty and the team and a win?

First game as a pro, get real people. So he didn't look like the best of Aaron Rodgers; big deal. Neither did Arron Rodgers today.
We know who Fitz ( the epitome of a journeyman) is so let's see who Petty is. Most guys who "light it up" first time have legit stars on the team.

Not the Peyton comparison again.
We did this with Sanchez, and Geno.
And Pettys not a rookie.
It's his first career start, close enough to compare.
The point of the comparison is to show you can't look into this game too critically. It's not to anoint,it's to say chill out.

Petty did fine considering Gailey's play calling. What I mean is not allowing Petty to pass down field more. Of the game Petty threw twice ,once a completion & other he missed a wide open WR & 5 total passes longer than 10yds . Thats going to happen when you dont allow your QB to get comfortable making those throws. The INT thrown at end of game I blame the WR not going towards the pass being tight coverage & instead just reached out to catch & allowed defender to get in front & take the ball away. Brandon wouldnt allow a defender to jump in front. Over all considering Jets poor OC's on both sides of the ball & a unmotivated HC Bowles ,I thought the JETS PLAYERS PLAYED GOOD. It's time to clean house of Coaches & Players HC-Offensive/Defensive OC's & Players Revis-Richardson & maybe Wilkerson if he doesnt change & doesnt continue to play hard. After that its the GM if he doesnt draft the right QB next years Draft. Jets are going to have a high Draft pick & Jets must draft a QB in first round! Draft a QB & be the right QB! No dart board & no inaccurate limited QB's that are huge projects.
I was very proud to see Jets Players playing hard the entire game! I can handle Jets losing as long as the Players are playing hard. There is no shame in losing as long as Players playing hard & just gets beat from better coaching on other teams. To Jets Players, THANK YOU FOR PLAYING A GREAT GAME HARD YESTERDAY! Sorry we lost due to awful bad coaching that doesnt put you guys in a good position to win using your strengths. I'm very proud to wear my Jets gear having you play like that. Like Rex Ryan says, "Play like a Jet".
