May be a short stay on the roster for Miles. Jets claims S Ronald Martin from Seattle UDFA - LSU.

OVERVIEW
Earned LSU's Mike Miley Leadership Award and the Most Improved Award based on his hard work and effort during spring drill.

PRO DAY RESULTS
40-yard dash: 4.65 and 4.63 seconds
Vertical jump: 33 1/2 inches
Broad jump: 10 feet, 1 inch

ANALYSIS

STRENGTHS Physical, box-safety linebacker. Plays through the whistle and relishes contact. Played as an additional linebacker against physical, run-based teams in Wisconsin and Arkansas. Disengages quickly in run support and will take on blockers to keep contain when called on. Can cover tight ends and shows adequate ball skills. Reacts quickly to throws in his area. Emotional leader on the field.

WEAKNESSES Average athlete with average play speed. Has coverage limitations. Struggles when asked to match up with speed in space. He's a tick slow to get through his route recognition at times. Shows some reckless traits in open field as a tackler. Steams downhill at suspect angles. Short-area change of direction issues limit him as a tackler against running backs with shake.

DRAFT PROJECTION Priority free agent

BOTTOM LINE Loves football and brings physicality and competitiveness to each snap. Limited in coverage and as a functional athlete. His best bet is to make it as a situational sub and core special-teamer.

I think the Bills possibly..
Only if he gets past the Giants, they have the higher waiver position, and I can't see him getting by the Giants.

I think Jerry Reese is going to jump on this like flies on a rib roast. His S depth chart is an absolute mess!

I actually there is a chance he may end up on our PS.
Of course there's a chance, there's a chance I might get struck by lightning, anything is possible, I just don't see it happening. Safety is one of those positions thats hard to fill with quality players because the best athletes at that general size usually play WR or CB, Safeties are usually the guys who are good, tough football players, but they don't have plus athleticism, thats why there are so few really good ones and most teams are always looking to upgrade their depth chart at the position as well, especially with young safeties who show some promise, then you have a team like the Giants whose safety depth chart has been decimated by injuries.

Yeah its possible Miles gets thru waivers, but I'm not keeping my hopes up, I'm looking at it like HE'S GONE, and if he stays I'll be pleasantly surprised, but I'm not expecting it.

Isn't there always a "Guy" every pre-season us Jets fans absolutley get enamoured with just to find out that the player is just Average at best to make the team:

93' WR Stevie Anderson

05' David Clowney

'12 Ryan Spadola

and now it's Rontez. What many are forgetting is that we are set with our saftey position for the immediate future.

Marcus Gilchrist-Free agent stud from SD
Jaiquan Jarrett-Who IMHO is much better than Rontez
Calvin Pryor-Who will finally be playing his true position rather than what Rex had him do last year
Ronald Martin-A player that was signed that this new regime thought higher than Miles. So far management has done nothing to make us think they are inept with their decisions such as their predecessors of this franchise.

Let this thing play out is all i'am saying. If he clears waivers and the Jets re-sign him, then many people will get their end of pre season high that they had of a player and the Jets can continue to groom him. If not, out of sight out of mind.

This team is overall talented of making the playoffs, with or without Rontez Miles.
