Roster Breakdown: Jets current WR room

Not the sexiest but there is potential in there, expect these to make a real run at the active roster:

Should be the 6 to make it, but both Jehu Chesson & Josh Doctson are the wild cards in my book...

Still unsure about Quincy Enunwa he could eventually be a Post June 1st cut when the teams are allowed to get back together to take physicals and such...

Perriman and Mims start on the outside, Crowder as the slot. After that, Doctson, V. Smith, and Berrios likely have spots, Berrios especially for specials. Cager might beat out someone. Should be some good competition for the last spots. Probably the best specials contributors will get them.

I see a couple of guys in the press have already criticized Douglas for not drafting enough WRs. Cannizzaro (no surprise) and Slater(just plain moron) seem to thing they know better. But I am pleased with this draft and my respect for Douglas has increased big time. He seems like a guy that's always thinking a couple moves ahead. I bet he understands that with 37 receivers taken in this draft it will provide opportunities. Think about it, teams will have to make room on their rosters for all those rookies and after the final cut downs there could be a fair number of good receivers out there looking for work. They could come relatively cheap on a one year prove it contract.

I wouldn't be averse to them taking Demaryius Thomas back for one more year. Who knows what he could do with a full off-season with Gase and Darnold.

And apparently UDFA signing 6'4" George Campbell runs a sub-4.4 as well. A former top-ten overall recruit for FSU out of HS, he was oft-injured, but as a graduate transfer for West Va. last year, he had 7 TDs and 469 yds on only 19 catches...

There is that quote from Douglas about how speed creates pressure, and that's how you blow the top off a defense.

And with Sam, there really isn't a concern about him utilizing the speed of the WRs.
