North Carolina undrafted free agent RB Romar Morris has been signed to the 90 man roster... Over the course of his career in Chapel Hill, Morris contributed in 50 games and he started 13 of those games over his four year career... He is a do it all back that accumulated over 1K yards on 200+ carries... He also contributed out of the back field with 54 receptions for almost five hundred yards and a pair of touchdowns...

During his redshirt senior season, Romar saw his snaps reduce, which allowed Morris to focus more on special teams where he'd believe he would get his chance at this level...

His pro day he ran a 4.30, 4.35 40 time...

Jets' rookie camp was where he impressed the team enough to sign him and waive recently signed tight end Jerome Cunningham... Romar will compete with Khiry Robinson for the team's 3rd RB roster spot... His special teams contribution may be the way for him to crack the 53 man roster at worst he could be a practice squad member with future potential...

was he a gunner at NC, or a punt/kick returner, or all three??

He also had as many catches as he did rushes his Senior year, which wasn't much 9, but he can catch out of the back field. Also lined up as WR from time to time.

What he does bring, and sure what they want to look at, is his 4.3 speed. Not much of a Resume'

You do have to wonder why he wasn't used more and was basically a situational substitution (scat back), but sometimes that can be misleading, sometimes those guys fly under the radar and become better pros than college players. Terrell Davis is an example of a guy who was under utilized in college, thats why he slid to the later rounds, then he gets to the pros and, well, you know the rest. Even Tom Brady slid because he was mostly a part time player at Michigan who split snaps with Drew Henson. In retrospect Bo Shembechler clearly didn't realize what he had, and thats a HOF college coach.

well, at least we know if the kid makes the 53 man roster it won't be because he can run really fast in a straight line.....

last season UNC Tar Heels had a duo in Elijah Hood and T.J. Logan that were the primary rushers leaving next to nothing in snaps for anyone else... they had a total of 1 running back, 5 tailbacks and a full back(/DT)... talk about fully loaded in the backfield

Elijah Hood - started all 14 games at tailback, carrying the ball 219 times for 1,463 yards and 17 touchdowns
T.J. Logan - appeared in 13 games carrying 61 times for 368 yards and 5 touchdowns, also had 11 catches for 151 yards and a score

Logan also split time with Morris as kick returner, averaged 23.7 yards per kickoff return

Just looking for reasons here, he is a RB that only weights in at 190. A WR might be able to get away with it, but it's tough for a RB.

Just looking at the brief highlights Ham put up, the kid seems to bring the speed to the field, and had some nice cut backs.............We'll see

what i like is that there's seems to be a concerted effort to improve team speed..

That just means he'll never be a feature back in the NFL, but you can be an effective change of pace scatback at that size.

He'll really help his chances to stick as a forth RB if he shows some skills as a kick returner.

I think thats gonna be the key to his making the team or not, if he can make a real impression on specials.
