ryan & chan took rex & rob behind the woodshed last night, plain & simple..
off the top of my head, i can't remember any jet QB getting that many 30+ yards completions in one game.. am i alone with that JFU??
hell, that's even with the marshall drop & fitzpatrick's prettiest/deepest pass of the night to decker that was called back for holding..
& we kept hearing from the naysayers: fitzpatrick's barely average.. fitzpatrick's too old.. fitzpatrick's has no ability to make plays downfield.. fitzpatrick's not even worth low tier starters money.. & my personal favorite, start smith because he'll probably put up the same numbers or better with these weapons, at the fraction of the cost..Fitz had a great game yesterday. Not sure about the answer to your question but he completed 10 passes for more than 15 yards. Tied for 3rd most of any qb over the last ten years. I didn't expect to hear that about our qb
& you say all this to say what exactly??Fitzpatrick NEVER had this type of arsenal...
Yes he had possibly a duo threat at receiver but the emergence of Enunwa and adding Forte to the backfield has given Fitz more to utilize on every down..
Any quarterback with this type of talent surrounding 'em should be able to win, is that knocking Fitz maybe but it is his experience that allows him to be more successful at this point...
& you say all this to say what exactly??
cause i'm saying year three here as the starter could be a real possibility.....
well, potential decisions like like those keep folks employed or fired..I'm saying like last year it is all on Fitz not to be Fitz but to play within the system (DO NOT TAKE CHANCES) and we will succeed... But after this year because how the roster is and likely going to be next year he isn't guaranteed a roster spot moving forward...
Let me reiterate, he won't be returning for a whopping $12+ M salary when Bryce Petty or Christian Hackenberg could produce with these weapons at the helm...
well, potential decisions like like those keep folks employed or fired..
i'm optimistic petty can be the guy next season, if need be.. hackenberg being ready in 2017 is a huge reach in my book though..
BTW, if fitzpatrick matches or surpasses last season's numbers, 12+ million would be a "whopping" sum of money to retain him?? again??
60+ TD's over two seasons (while maintaining a 2-1 TD INT ratio) is quite economical for a starting QB.. as a matter of fact, it's a bargain by today's NFL standards.. by my estimation at least.....
Hate to break it to you, petty starting next year also depends on petty. He had a great game Thursday, but I'm skeptical of Fitz until he reaches the playoffs. Starting next year over Petty depends on playoffs for me. If he helps the Jets make the playoffs and its not completely on the defense which Revis and Co. are proving they won't be the reason, then he deserves another one year contract. If no playoffs, then we need to move on. Always make Fitz prove himself and never give him more than one year at a time.
i hope that's with us if petty can't earn the starting gig next season.....Hate to break it to you, petty starting next year also depends on petty.
And if Fitz has similar production to pay year,he's getting a multi year deal somewhere.

I agree, some people really assume a lot, over look a lot.i hope that's with us if petty can't earn the starting gig next season.....
LOLz first things first though, at KC.....

at this point, i'm not sure if people even know why they knock fitzpatrick anymore..I agree, some people really assume a lot, over look a lot.
Petty looked like he was progressing nicely against practice squad or unemployed talent. To assume he's just going to automatically be nfl ready week 1 next year is a stretch.
I think most people forget how normal, below average qb play is,in the nfl. Suddenly we have the most productive qb in the last 10 years, and he's a bum and we've already set his departure date for an unproven project kid. The same week he puts up almost 400 yards against a team we lost to in our last 5 meetings.
I mean cmon guys. If Fitz repeats last year's numbers, we're a 10 win team for 2 years straight(better than the giants),after an 8 win and 4 win season. Most years 10 wins gets you in the playoffs.
And Fitz would have 60tds and 30ints, a tie or winning division record, be the best qb in 50 years of team history, and would have been paid 15 million combined, less than Sam Bradford or Brock osweiler make in a single year.
Can we enjoy this special offense, and stop taking for granted that any project qb can just walk into a talented offense and know what to do with it.
And oh yea, we have the hardest schedule in the nfl as of week 1, and we are two chip shots away from starting 2-0. Fitz wasnt the reason we lost to a perennial playoff team whose qb and star wr were playing well, and who might win their division again this year.

is it their lack of faith he can maintain his level of play over the last 2 years & last thursday??
any competent NFL QB could do at least as well as fitzpatrick has with these weapons??
is it simply out of habit??
all of the above??
if fitzpatrick gets us to the playoffs dealing with this schedule he will have earned his multi year deal..All I need to see from Fitz is playoffs.
Mac got the Fitz deal wrong to begin with. He believed in him enough to trade a pick for him, yet failed to execute the most basic contract extension day 1. He could have extended him for peanuts, instead we're looking at another negotiation this offseason, unless he's betting the number 3qb on our roster will be a starter with zero experience and almost zero reps this season.if fitzpatrick gets us to the playoffs dealing with this schedule he will have earned his multi year deal..
if that deal isn't with us, maccagnan & bowles better have guessed right.....
