Hate to break it to you, petty starting next year also depends on petty.
And if Fitz has similar production to pay year,he's getting a multi year deal somewhere.

I love Petty. I think he can be the guy but he will be the backup next year if Fitz can throw for 4000 yds 30 tds and 15 or less TD's again this year....Hackenberg is being redshirted this year... If Fitz is back next year it will allow Hackenberg another year to develop and quite honestly he will need next year too.. The beauty of this situation is Petty is an improving QB and will be a solid backup with great potential and if Fitz gets hurt next year or isn't hear next year we get to see what we have in him.....

And Hackenberg when he is ready to compete in 2018 to push Petty and/or Fitz out will still only be 23 years old

I like what Mac has done here with the pipeline at the QB position and I like what Gailey and Patullo are doing with Fitz and developing Petty... Which gives me a lot of confidence in what they will do with Hackenberg

Ideally we would carry 2qbs and open a roster spot,or 2 spots compared to this season.
Depending on who mac thinks is the guy,the other qb could be traded.

We will carry 3 if Fitz is resigned.... Hack needs next year to develop. He won't be ready!!

i agree with lou..

if we re-sign fitzptrick & petty keeps improving, i would have to believe we would keep hackenberg as well.....

Yes,most likely, unless they aren't happy with the progress on hack. Similar to Tampa bays qb being the center of every qb trade rumor. If one of them let's mac down,he could try to get a first or second. I didn't say it's happening, just that is one possibility.
