Ryan Fitzpatrick On Pace For One Of Greatest Passing Seasons in Jets History

Fitz may not be a difference maker

Your boy Geno definitely is

His bad decisions, bad throws and bumbling mistakes and turnovers were the difference between wins and losses for most of two disastrous seasons and the one game this season he blew another chance at a win vs Oakland

Thanks again IK for saving Jets fans from a third straight nightmare season

Very happy to come back to this thread and eat a little crow tonight. Fitz was great -- put the team on his back in the 4th quarter and carried them to victory. Didn't think he had it in him.

Great game. Great win.

I think QBs are not difference makers because of stats, but because of their ability to perform when it matters. We are like 29th in fourth quarter QB rating, Fitz has zero 4th quarter and GW drives and has consistently come up small when it matters.

Hmmmmmmm. REALLY??????

lolz we can debate fitz all we want the point is his heart and ambition will outweigh any negatives............we all knew from the start he was not a franchise QB, but most of us knew he never had a team like this around him either.

He is the best we have at this point. When he plays like he has in last two weeks I'm on board. If he makes the playoffs then he deserves another year as the starter. If he falls apart like his record might indicate then he is back up at best next season. Give me a rookie or Petty. I said this before the season started that what if he is our next Vinny T? It seems like he could be. Lets just ride this wave.

"best we have at this point"????

Actually he is the best we have had since Chad in his one great year in 2002 and before that Vinny in 1998 if you dont include Favres half season in 2008

Which is damn good

We are finally seeing good QB play after roughly a decade and a half of total crap starters in the form of Bollinger, Carter, Clemens, McElroy, Buttfumble, Vick and the worst of them all by far, Geno Smith

I think he deserves way more credit from Jet fans than "at this point"

i. believe "most" jets fans recognize & respect what fitzpatrick has brought to the table this season.. we certainly know he's respected & appreciated by his teammates & coaching staff!! silly NY jets locker room!!

the last two weeks has made it quite challenging to continue down playing what the man's done so far for the jets..

LOLz we do still have at least one guy here holding onto (like grim death) the idea that "fitzpatrick isn't any good cause i say so," argument..

Fitz can win exactly one type of game, which is a game where we have a lead.

Oops...LOL

We are like 29th in fourth quarter QB rating, Fitz has zero 4th quarter and GW drives and has consistently come up small when it matters. In the two games previous to the Miami game, Fitz throw really bad picks to end any comeback chance. And he has only beat a team with a winning record once since 2011. As bad as Geno was his first couple years, he has almost as many comeback wins in his career as Fitz (7 to 9). Fitz can win exactly one type of game, which is a game where we have a lead and maintain it. People can continue with this Fitzmagic BS but he is just not a good QB. He is a statistic compiler checkdown artist that consistently comes up small when it matters.

The problem is not his arm its his ability to process the game speed and make decisions... he loses big time to Fitz and frankly many other QBs. .

I've logged on and 3 of the 4 threads with new comments are littered with talk of our back up QB. He has become an afterthought of the coaching staff. I can't wait until that happens for the fans as well. Enough already.

BOOM!!! and drop the Mic, SOJ
it was a very succinct post by SOJ..

Elias pretty much said as much (post 17) in this thread..

i also remember flgreen posting statistical evidence that fitzpatrick gets rid of the ball (passing plays) something like 3 seconds faster than smith on average..

I wonder why the Jets OL has gotten so good this year in pass protection.

On pressured dropbacks, Ryan Fitzpatrick has the league's lowest sack rate (8.8%) and the league's lowest throwaway rate (1.5%)

Could be the 2.7 seconds it takes Fitz to get the ball out. Could also be why every OL has a "FitzMagic" T-shirt

While I was interviewing Fitz today, the O-Line was playing with a remote control Millennium Falcon. That's a 1st. #StarWarsForceAwakens

Don't you think Fitz would make a good Obi-Wan Kenobi? There is a strong resemblance there. Like the force theme. #StarWarsForceAwakens
