"Top to bottom, twelve years in the league, this is the most talented group of WR's I have ever been around in a training camp."

I see what he means, we have legit NFL caliber WR's like Kenbrell Thompkins, Jeremy Ross, Robby Anderson and Chandler Worthy who are unlikely to even make this team barring injuries or a trade, or unless we carry 7+ WR's.

I have these six as mortal locks:

Brandon Marshall
Eric Decker
Quincy Enunwa
Devin Smith (they're not giving up on the #37 overall pick after one year in which he was injured)
Jalin Marshall
Charone Peake

You try to get Jalin or Peake thru waivers for the PS, and they'll be snatched up so fast your head will spin.

Mac and the coaches know that, so its not happening, they are making this team.

We will never miss Ross.
Maybe, but I fear losing Robby Anderson. I hope we can get him thru waivers for the PS, but I wouldn't bet on it. That kid has length and upside, someone might put in a claim. I'll tell you what though, if Devin Smith starts the season on the PUP, Anderson is the guy I would keep as the 6th WR, then we'll figure something out when Smith gets healthy.

Smith never looked comfortable when he played last season.
True, at no point did he look as confident and smooth as Jalin and Peake do now. Truth be told, I have my doubts about Devin Smith, thats why I would peddle him in a trade for a quality RB or OL, but barring that, I don't see any way this regime is cutting their own high draft pick (#37 Overall) after one injury riddled year. That is not happening. He might start the season on the PUP, so that opens another roster spot, but he's not getting cut.

Ryan Fitzpatrick told Ian Eagle:

Smith is not as dangerous as Jalin according to my OSU friend.

Keep producers...if Smith doesn't show something by end of preseason... bye bih ...no need to keep someone who isn't doing it when the window is open now

He's hurt, tore his ACL last year and he's still on the PUP, might start the season on the PUP too, which I welcome because then he doesn't take up a roster spot. There's a roster exemption for players who start the season on the PUP.

I would really be pissed if Kembrell Thopmkins made the team over those two kids.

Devin Smith is staying his ass right here. This is actually a conversation ?

VERY impressed with the WR's. I've been a fan since early 90's, and the depth looks like it's the best I've ever seen. It's only preseason but we are looking good.

He learned diplomacy at Harvard. He limited his comments to WR and didn't say anything about TE.

I like Robby Anderson but I think he is going to the PS this year.... Next year he will make this team... This WR group is deep, without Smith.... If these Kids develop... Good Lord. Once Marshall and Decker move on it could still be deep with

Enunwa
J Marshal
C. Peake
R Anderson

I know that's asking a lot but the talent is there and the opportunity to develop them is too... So fingers crossed...

and theoretically a QB with a strong enough arm to take advantage of all that speed.

Agree

Think the problem with Devin Smith will be solved by putting him on the partial season IR, and make a decision week 8 dependent on production, and injuries.

Think in the long run it will help Smith not being thrown into the fire week one. He really hasn't had many reps either last year, and none this year. If he comes out again looking lost opening day the fans will run him out of town.

Yeah Smith won't see the field till week 9-10 and that depends on how our WR corp is holding up health wise and production wise.

I would think Devin Smith has to start the season on IR. There is too much depth and talent.

It may actually be out of his hands, too. Whether he gets a chance to come back or not may not depend on him, but might depend on guys like Marshall, Ross, and Peake.

+100. I agree. These younger guys are stepping up and making it tougher for Smith to just coast on by because he was a high draft pick.
