I was sold on matt moore coming in and being a nice two year stop gap but the more I looked at the statistics maybe we can give a 4th or 5th to Houston for Fitzpatrick.

3 straight years under gailey he threw for over 3000 yds including one which was close to 4000 at 3800.

what say you jets fans would you gamble on fitzpatrick as a 1 or 2 year stop gap depending on the QB fa class of 2016 or any we might draft and let them sit and learn?

Don't see any reason the Texans would want to trade him for a 5th round pick. Right now he is their starting QB, and had a 95+ QB rating last season.

There will be a QB competition with Mallet in camp next year.

If you started offering a 2 or 3 they might be interested. No way I would give that up for him.

My first instinct would be to only trade away a draft pick for a QB if it is at the draft and Mariota is sitting there at 5

Well, Geno would have thrown for over 3000 yards both years if hadn't have been benched. Fitzpatrick is a backup QB and would be good for Geno if thats the route we have to go. I'm not trading a pick for him though.

Back up for Geno? Really? You realize of course that philosophy is one of the reasons Idzik is unemployed right now. I sure hope that Maccagnan is a lot smarter then that.

I agree that Fitzpatrick is (currently) better than Geno, and I also agree I'm not giving up a draft pick to get him . . .

If Chan can make Cordell Stewart a QB., then he can make Geno one. And for that matter if he can make Fitz a QB once he surely can again. Geno has way more upside and Fitz was the best he could be with limited talent a few years ago under Chan. Damn it, Geno was a great college QB.

Geno was not a great college QB. He is currently one of the worst QB's in the NFL.

If Chan can make bums look like NFL QB's wouldn't you rather see him work with a QB who actually has potential, instead of another bad QB like Geno

I can agree with that, but Fitz has no potential.

It will be interesting who plays. Geno has many of the tools but few weapons and an average OL won't help anyone we have. Fix those problems and then hopefully decent QB play will make us a competitive team next year.

thankfully there is zero chance the the starting job battle will only be between smith & simms..

i agree and that is what i am getting at who else could they bring in that would be better than fitzpatrick?

My point is that there is very small chance that the Texans trade their starting QB for a 5th round pick. He was the starter when he was hurt in week 15. He also had a good stats year.

No way I give up anything higher then a 5th, I doubt I would even give up a 5th. I would go with Matt Moore for free. I'd even consider Sanchez, but I don't think he would be at all interested in coming back here. Scuffle off to Buffalo

hey, if sanchez didn't start his career with the jets there would absolutely be talk on the board/boards about signing him..

My assessment of Ryan Fitzpatrick was eerily similar to Simon's assessment of Tori Kelly.
