Sam Darnold draft analysis and the rest of the QBs

So I believe it was the 2018 draft the Mayfield, Darnold, Allen, Rosen, Jackson and Lock was drafted in this order.

Let’s go through all five QBs to this point:

- Mayfield seems to be regressing a small bit on a team that as talented as it can get. He started out real hot but has definitely cooled down now. He may still turn out to be pretty decent but nothing special.

- Darnold is regressing in a huge way. He has nothing around him to help him and that is totally clear. Don’t know if he’s even becoming shell shocked with happy feet on top of it at this point. We were all looking and expecting him to take the next step but seems pretty apparent he’s not and he may not even be the QB next year for the Jets.

- Allen is blossoming like no other. Well other than L. Jackson. Allen has the goods and team and coaching to help him display it. He’s a keeper and a franchise QB. He might even help the Bills win Super Bowl or two and become a future HOFer.

- Rosen is a bust. He got a raw deal from the start but you gotta pull yourself up from your boot straps and show what your about or you’ll be riding the bench. That’s where he is, if he’s even on a NFL team right now.

- Jackson is a straight up beast. MVP last year and he’s the one that not many expected to even be a QB in this league. He has proven everyone wrong and has an organization behind him that will help him become a first ballot HOFer and SB winner.

- Lock appears to definitely have the goods. He has the right organization behind him that is building this team correctly to help him become a franchise QB. The Broncos may have a new HC by next year but either way, Lock appears to be there guy.

Overall, we never know how these drafts are going to turn out and this year will be the same. Most predicted that Allen and Jackson were the two to worry about in this draft and Darnold, Mayfield and Rosen were the better prospects. Man we’re they wrong! Trevor Lawrence may turn out to being the greatest to ever do it. Then again, he could turn out to be worse than even Jamarcus Russell. Doubt that seriously but you get my point!

organizational stand points for each of the teams in question who drafted what when and how they surrounded these picks proves that they all are talented but it is how they are developed...

Mayfield may be a short statured QB, but has a big arm along with a big personality... Tying him together with the likes of OBJ, Landry, etc. actually plays into his desire to be great and able to have a good time doing it... They are a wild bunch but from Hue Jackson mid season firing Gregg Williams then Freddie Kitchen now Kevin Stefansky the Browns culture might finally be on the right track which should allow Baker to be successful...

Sam JUST END THE SEASON Darnold thrown into a whirlwind mess from a dysfunctional organization from top to bottom... A GM at the time was paired with a head coach then Todd Bowles... He really didn't have the ability to hire his guy(s)... Never really given the proper chance to structure the team in his vision, even though he stated he and Bowles were on the same page... He was in the room when Todd Bowles was fired and was there to witness Adam Gase trick the ownership into hiring him not far longer did Gase get Mike Maccagnan fired right after the draft... Using drafting players like Polite to get ownership to agree to fire the GM, which then went on record to make sure his friend gets the job... Two years of complete mess offensively has proven or stunted Darnold's ability to grow...

Josh Allen big armed quarter back that is mobile put in a good system that they allowed him to take his time his way to grow... Built the team around his abilities and he is now flourishing in the AFC East and the league...

Josh Rosen drafted, traded, dumped, signed, dumped, signed rinse and repeat never given the chance but his big ego never allowed him a chance to get grounded enough to see if his talents are worthy of an NFL Team...

Lamar Jackson the best running back in the league, lol... Like Josh Allen big arm, great mobility and smarts... Continue to work hard and became the NFL MVP last season enough said... Bright future...

Drew Lock drafted into a good organization has quality pieces/team mates that will help him have a successful career as long as he can stay healthy...

Allen and Jackson would be exposed with this roster. Darnold got screwed having to play for this team and in a city in decline. I feel bad for him. He deserves a second chance. I'm excited to see where that is.

So here’s probably what’s going to happen. Foles just got announced the starter for the rest or the year with the Bears. Hell do ok but just ok and that won’t be good enough. They’ll go about 9-7 which we’ll knock them out of any shot of Lawrence or the Ohio State QB or the third QB. Whomever that is!

SO, the Jets will continue to lose and go 2-14 (doubt it) or worse and get the #1 draft pick. Sam gets traded to the Bears for a third rounder. Probably the best we’ll get at this point. Hell become the starter there. We draft Lawrence and hopefully get a right coaching staff with him. Joe keeps building the team correctly and maybe, just maybe we’ll be on track to some success.

I thought Sanchez got handed a much better roster.
he definitely did but the person who hindered the offense was the Sanchez...

it was Brian Schottenheimer like Adam Gase wanted to air raid but luckily for us Rex wanted ground and pound which we should still be today...

I see Sam and Sanchez as the same person. either one could maybe have done better in a better situation, but you couldnt bet on it

I VERY rarely agree with TCT but I gotta give it to him here, he is spot on. Sanchez was handed a playoff roster at the least. Rex Ryan and his coaching staff made it into a contender. They just couldn’t groom Sanchez enough to become a franchise QB.

I see many differences. Sam is a better athlete and not being used or supported properly. Sanchez had the best OL and running game in the league along with a top 3 defense. Sam has none of that and never has. I would even venture to say we might have won two SB's with Sam. Sanchez also was not a top 5 pick by any other team than the Jets. Sam was a top 3 pick in almost every GM's mind. Either they are all wrong which is possible or Sam just sucks which is also possible or Sam is not being supported which is 100% true.

no doubt Sam has nothing to work with and Sanchez did. at least in the beginning. by the time he was done though the team had been dismantled quite a bit. memory of years past all blur into one for me but didnt we give away a couple o lineman by Rex's last year? Idzik let a lot of guys go and didnt replace them. I felt Rex was shafted out of town too

I just see Sam repeating the same dumb stuff . you could be right that he forces the issue because the team sucks. It's hard to know. hate to say it, but hard to know if Gase really sucks as bad as it seems due to the lack of talent too. although I still think Parcells or belichick would have gotten more out of this team, but at the same time, both of those guys always brought in their own type of players to teach the system

I don't know if he forces because the team sucks or because he sucks. I just really don't want to give up this early on Sam. Its the beginning of year 3 and the team is worse than when he got here. I have to believe if he had the Browns roster and run game he would be very good.

I agree with this also TCT!
