I just want to point out that, as sorry as many Jets fans generally always feel for themselves, both the Bengals and Vikings suffered tough, improbable losses.

The Bengals suffer mental meltdowns that remind us of what could have been after Eric Barton in San Diego. The Vikings losing after driving for the winning FG just seemed cruel, and is reminiscent of the Ravens against New England.

Had either of those losses happened to the Jets, the SOJF crowd would be saying how losses like that ONLY happen to the Jets.

Same old jets is a load of crap. It's a new roster each year. The past is irrelevant.

Poor Cincinati and Minnesota. I will light a candle for their fan base. Haha

Those are brutal ways to lose games.

For the Bengals, it's somewhat cosmic. There's a sense of karma to a franchise that loads up on troublemakers and thugs losing a playoff game to a big rival by melting down and committing personal fouls like that.

Vikings fans...damn. What do you even say? Arrive at 7:00, get drunk on various Scandinavian clear liqueurs, sit for 4-5 hours in a stadium in below zero temperatures, watch a game that lacked any interest in the first half, only to have your heart ripped out on a winning chip shot going wide left. Brutal. No fans outside of New England deserve such a harsh fate.

The only Jets playoff loss I can compare to Cinci and Minny, for the sheer self-destruction and the brutality of it, enough to literally snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, was the 86 divisional round when we blew a 10 Point lead in the final minutes, not because Cleveland outplayed us, but in an avalanche of penalties and missed FG's that could only be described as torture. I still remember the pain, it was that intense.

I went from catatonic in the immediate aftermath of the disaster, to slow boil, to homicidal in a matter of minutes.

I almost killed my poor neighbor when I ripped my Sack Exchange picture off the wall, in a solid oak frame, and threw it out my bedroom window like a Sandy Koufax fastball, frisbee style. That thing was HUMMING when it took flight, and sure nuff' my neighbor was riding by on his bike, right in the line of fire!

That thing didn't miss his head by more than six inches, and like I said, it was humming!

So the last time I experienced the type of loss the Bengals and Vikings fans experienced this weekend in the playoffs, I came six inches away from being indicted for manslaughter.

Who gives a sh*t? At least those teams made the tournament. The Jets are home. The Jets blew it. That's why the Jets are being called the same old Jets.

Give me a break MJ. Those teams are being labeled similarly. Did you see yesterday's telecast? Poor bengals. The media did not let them forget their past and just piled on.

It will be 47 years on Tuesday since the Jets last made the SuperBowl. If you have had to endure almost a half a century of not making it to the big show then you earned a right to express disappointment. All SOJ means to me is yet another year without a championship.

BTW - we absolutely don't own the franchise on Same Old insert team. Many other cities feel the pain every year and at least we've had some success in the playoffs. So I guess there are worse situations. The Cinci and Minn loses were absolutely brutal.

That's pathetic.

The Jets are called the SOJ because they have a whiny, crybaby fan base that acts like they're the only team that ever suffers bad losses.

Believe it or not, other franchises in the history of the sport have lost games that would have gotten them into the playoffs.

True, but its not much of a consolation to say we are not the fattest girl at the fat farm.

I get what you're saying at its true, there are other loser franchises out there too, some that are bigger losers than us, but I'm not content to be the skinniest girl at the fat farm, I'd like to be one of the supermodel franchises, the ones that are synonymous with winning, not synonymous with losing.

All my life I've been waiting for the Jets to turn the corner and become ONE OF THOSE franchises.

We really haven't been at the fat farm since Kotite. The Jets have not had consecutive losing seasons since Kotite was coach. They have been, at worst, middle of the pack over the past nearly 20 years.

I've been a fan since the late 70s, when I was very young. I remember some very lean times. But since Parcells, the Jets have not been some bad franchise.

Thats valid, there have been a few down years like last years 4-12, but for the most part we've fielded competitive teams since Parcells. If you sprinkled in JUST ONE Super Bowl championship, I think the past twenty years would be viewed more favorably by Jets fans, including the pessimists.

One thing I'll say about Jets' fans, I don't think other fan bases turn on their players and coaches with quite the venom that Jets' fans do.

Chad's a good example. Guy was a good football player, seemed like a nice guy. Think he had a winning season every year he stayed healthy. He just couldn't stay healthy. His back ups always sucked. A lot of fans really hated the guy with a passion. Still do

In all honesty Rex was another one. When he first got here the fans loved all the big talk. He delivered. Back to back AFCC games. it equaled the amount of AFCC the Jets had played in in their entire history. Good Times Almost every one believed.

Sanchez never developed, they made some bad FA signings, players got old, and so did Rex's act. It was time to turn the page. Rex was fired. It was time. I've got to admit I had some fun during those years. I just don't get the fans who still abhor him. He's gone.

smith may be falling into that territory. I want him off the Jets myself. He's not a good character guy at all. I could deal with that, but he's also not very good at football. Once he's gone I'll be happy, but he's gone. He no longer exists to me. Won't care. I guarantee you we'll be having Geno hate threads 5 years after he's gone. LOL

Jets fans have a tendency to turn on their own VERY harshly , and hate forever.

Guy may win the humanitarian of the century award from the UN 20 years after he retires, and I guarantee you some one will post on a Jets board that day, "Guys a dick". LOL :)

Thats funny and it reminds me of myself. I've punched a door off it hinges( loss to the Colts when they went 1-15) Smashed a recliner to bits( Blair Thomas fumble Vs. Bears monday night) too many remotes and such to count. That was my younger self though. Now i just overeat Oreos and Chocolate chip cookies. Except when the Jets lost to Buffalo on thursday night, that's when i went to my garage at 11:30 at night and hit the heavy bag non stop for about 5 minutes.( then i had a sleeve of Oreos) :1:

I generally agree, with the exception of Iggles fans. They make Jets fans look tolerant and patient.

Let's not forget the 2004 playoff loss to the Steelers in OT. We had two chances to win in regulation but Doug Brien missed two FG's.

In '98 Anderson hadn't missed all year and then missed vs Falcons. We should have played the Flacons that year which we had already crushed.
