Seattle had the Super Bowl won, it was in the bag, and they gave it away

I hate the Pats as much as anyone on this board and wanted them to lose by 100 points but I'm not surprised. I don't see why any if you guys are as well. I called this on either this site or the JI one that the Pats would win. NE is not like Denver, they aren't a punk team. Cheaters or not they aren't a punk team. They are the best game to game, team to team adjustment team their is in the business. I knew NE would find away the scheme up a game plan and beat the Hawks as long as they can protect Brady from pressure. He was the key and the defense not allowing the Hawks to run away with the game. That was exactly what happened and their you have victory for those bitch ass Pats. Called it luck, cheating or whatever you want, Pats are saying they were prepared for that play and it looked exactly like they were. I'm sick to my stomach just like anyone else but I'm not surprised about the result or how it happened at all.

Thankfully this game involving the Cheating Sh*tshow is over and done and NYJF can move on to discussion of our huge upgrades at HC and GM and the New York Jets 2015 offseason

OK, I'll start the Jets discussion ....

And that upgrade better continue to include a QB

I was at the Jet House complimentary brunch for STH yesterday.

The first question to the panel (two players, Marty Lyons and Greg Butthead was about getting a replacement for Geno....after the cheering stopped, Lyons half heartedly said he liked Geno as a person and then, as expected, Butthead grabbed the mike to tell us that he thought Geno was the greatest
and would be a star based on his magnificent perfect QB rating against the Dolphins in meaningless week 16

Pretty much the way it went for the whole session. Every question or comment stopped in its tracks and trampled on by this arrogant buffoon

And there's not a chance in hell the Pats could have stopped him, even if Seattle called out the play for the defense.

3 shots at the 1, I'll take BEAST MODE over any RB I have ever seen other than Earl Campbell, and bet my life that he'll score. If I can't have Earl, give me Lynch in that spot and I'm betting the house, car, and all of my earthly possessions.

You score bonus points with me for calling for Earl over Jim Brown. But I digress....

Couldn't agree more with everything you said. At least Bucker was an honest mistake. This was literally intentionally throwing the game away (actually, very literally). Every person in front of every television in the world watching the game at that moment was screaming 'Beastmode'. Over 100 million people screaming the same thing at the same time. Bevell got cute...and in one instant, made Rich Kotite the second-dumbest coach in NFL history.

Someone tweeted that even Rich Kotite would have ran the ball! Justification for firing Carroll!

I might sound crazy to others but I rather be in the predicament the Jets are in today then what the Seahawks are in right now. Losing a SB like would just wipe out all thought of the one we won and would hang over me until I'm in the grave. Thats a huge monkey on a Seahawks fan shoulder.

OK, if you're hell-bent on passing because everyone is thinking run, you run the back shoulder to Matthews again. 2 possible results - TD or incomplete. But I would have run Lynch on 2nd, then back shoulder throw on 3rd (they only had one time out left, right? Might make sense to throw there) Then run the ball again on 4th.

If I'm calling the play, I'd worry about a deflection, or contact and the ball pops up, etc. on the slant. It's not as safe as other options. But he did have play, needed to release the ball sooner and/or put it lower, into Lockett's gut or down at his thighs.

In that spot, at the end of the game, my thought would be:
You don't score a TD, you lose.
You turn the ball over, you lose.
You score a TD, you win.
What's going to maximize my chances to score and minimize the chances to turn it over?
A run by Wilson or a run by Lynch.

And that's all true on 2nd down, 3rd down, and 4th down.

Actually, the guys over at 538 ran the odds and concluded that passing from the 1 yard line has a higher probability of success and a lower possibility of a turnover than running it in from the 1 does.

Don't doubt it. But we all know it was a horrible call, regardless of the numbers. It was the first interception from the 1 in the NFL this year.

Btw, this board seems to really heading in a good direction. Hopefully it will be full speed ahead by September

Thanks Bronx. I agree. We have a solid group of posters that I hope will continue to grow. I'm embarrassed to say this but I really am working on aesthetic changes. Just taking longer than normal bc of developers jerking me around but eventually I will find the right guy.

Higher probability of a TD? Maybe. Lower possibility of a turnover? No way. 0 turnovers on passes from the 1 this year.

All of this depends on what stats you use to generate the odds, which makes the odds all but meaningless. Unless you can tell me with any certainty the odds of Marshawn Lynch running it in from the 1 after 3 hrs of football in the Super Bowl, I'll go with my gut and common sense. This ain't cards, where every card is as likely to turn up first as any other. The odds would have told you the Seahawks were going to win the game at the start of the 4th Quarter.
