I think the snow ball incident was cool when he hit the Bill fan with a huge snowball. I think the fan tried to sue.
I would rate Ellis right there with Wilkerson, not great, but a very steady DE. We fattened him up to a DT one time which was stupid.

I like Shaun Ellis, good guy and good player, but I can't lie, I believe when you draft a player # 12 overall he has to be a perennial pro bowl caliber player. That doesn't mean he wasn't a good Jet, but I don't think we maximized the pick.

Steady, and a solid player. Don't think he ever lived up to a first round draft choice.
Ellis cost a 1st and a 2nd rd pick the Tuna gave up a 2nd to move up to 12 in the first..
I forgot about that, that makes it even worse. Tuna was a great coach, but a lousy GM, and he knows it too, later admitted that "shopping for the groceries" is too much on one mans plate, thats its difficult to be a coach and GM at the same time, and if he had it to do over again he wouldn't lobby to do both. In other words George Young was right when he told Parcells to BUT OUT of the draft process and just coach the players I give you.
I loved Ellis. He wasn't a great player, but he was solid. I have no regrets about that pick.
The one thing I have to say on his behalf is he did step up his game verses the Patriots, sort of the way Ken O'Brien always saved his best games for Miami.

One of the best JETS to ever play for our team. I would put him with the likes of guys like Mo Lewis and Bryan Thomas.
From a league standpoint? he was just another player that had a few good years.
