Should the Jets retire #24?

Two separate things 13. Being a fan favorite has nothing to do with his on the field achievements. Him joining the ring of honor is all about what he did on the field. On that end, it's unquestionable.

If the ring of honor was all about fan favorites, Wayne Chrebet would have gone the very day after his career was over.
maine, i have misconceptions of revis' greatness..

just saying that when you combine the almost annual contract issues, going to the patriots & playing last season like he absolutely didn't give a shit has left a bad taste in a lot of jet fans mouths.. perhaps the jet organization as well..

would i be surprised if the jets didn't retire his number?? yes.. can't say i would stunned though..

You seem to forget when Revis got cut by the Bucs, Revis' first option for a team to play for was the Jets. He called the Jets and Rex was all over having him back. John Idzik was the incompetent douchebag that not only refused to entertain taking him back. But refused him knowing he'd be a Patsy within an hour. Then Idzik actually had the audacity to roll 30 million into the following year. You can't make this shit up.

Just pointing out that it is really up to a franchise how much value they place in on-field, and how much in community efforts. Different sport, but though a good player, Adam Graves' number is retired by the Rangers largely for his off-ice efforts.

Canton, different matter. And players don't go in representing a single team, unlike baseball. But a team's own Ring of Honor and number retirement is entirely to the standards set by that team, whether it's on-field or off.

Revis will make the HOF, but it bothers me he won a Super Bowl with NE.
