7-9 vs. 4 wins. Established program with success, vs. Darnold who had 4 great games. We as jets fans have confidence in darnold, but you can't look at it through a fan's lens.

I'm more responding that I think he should have been a high priority. If Mac tried and he said no for whatever reason then I'm fine with that. I don't blame him or any FA for not wanting to be a part of the Jets. If he didn't pursue him then that to me is unacceptable. Not a whiff just stupidity. Probably will never know.
I'm definitely not saying the Jets are better. I'm painfully aware how awful this organization is.

they've made the playoffs 4 of the last 6 years, including a trip to the super bowl. compared to teams like the jets and bills and broncos (of the last 3 years) - teams that were looking for centers - that's definitely the top contender

Paradis, 29, had started 57 consecutive games for the Broncos before he fractured his fibula nine weeks into the 2018 season.

if the panthers stink, then how do you assess the jets? 2011 was the last time the jets had a better record than carolina. the jets last playoff appearance was in 2010. carolina has been in the playoffs 4 of the last 6 years

you do realize paradis and osemele are both 29 and both were hurt last year. and since paradis got $9 million per year, he probably would have needed at least $10 (or more) to come to the jets. of course, osemele has been a 2 time pro bowler (0 for paradis)

Do you actually believe I am the only person on here who complains on who Jets sign. Center is more of a need than Guard. There are few Centers in the Draft than Guards. Take a look at our Offensive Line. What has Macc drafted in the first 2 rounds? Zilch! I wanted a Center and not Harrison. Ferguson and Mangold were young guys that helped establish our line. Osemele is a 1 or 2 year rental till the age factor clicks in.
no you are not the only person who complains. there are many here that do such. i was just highlighting how you criticized a move they made, and the reasons you were critical applied exactly the guy they didn't get, which you also criticized.
center may or may not be a bigger need. with two pro bowl guards (theoretically if they sign sitton), that should help the center position. now i too wanted paradis or morse, and an hoping they can land sullivan as a bridge. and criticizing the lack of developing young lineman in the draft is very fair.
but in free agency, the players have a choice. not everyone wants to play for the jets. we have no idea what the jets offered paradis. if he indeed wanted to play for a team closer to contending, the panthers, based on recent history (last 5-7 years) have been more competitive than the jets.

Yeah I said whiff. Meaning he is not on our team and should have been a priority. I don't know the reason he's not a Jets but he should be and Mac owns that. I'm not buying he went to Carolina because they are a winner. Who would you put your money on to be the better team next year or the year after? Carolina who has a QB that's been hit more times than a rented mule and just had surgery on his throwing shoulder or the Jets with an up and comer QB like Darnold. At best it's a coin toss.
I also know we're not talking about Mike Webster here but he's a very good player and the best one out there. We also can't rely on a third-round pick to come in to start day one. Our current center is Harrison - rated 31st by PFF. Not that PFF is the standard but he's still 31st. The center along with the left tackle are the key to a highly functioning offensive line. Just look at our past history. Protecting Darnold should have been our number one priority. Sorry for the long-winded response.
Pretty clear from media reports that he was a priority target for the Jets but chose the Panthers.
I wanted Morse. If we didn't get Morse we needed a Center. Any Center in FA. I was not happy with Osemele as I wanted a young Guard in the Draft if we traded down.
If I wasn't a jets fan, I would absolutely characterize the Panthers add an established program that is trying to get back to the super bowl, and is consistently in the playoffs.
The jets, on the other hand, have great potential. Those two situations are not equal.
You never know why somebody picks one team over another.
We know for a fact that mac made an offer. We know that paradis said he was only looking for a win now team after years losing with the Broncos. He didn't want to sit through a building team. Paradis is nothing special, and certainly would have been a waste to throw obnoxious money at him just because he is a center.

A lot of debate over Paradis, and I think this sums it up well. Who knows how aggressive the pursuit was, but Macc was in. While also trying to pursue Moseley, Bell, Crowder, Barr, etc.
Sometimes you just need to ask the next girl out to the prom. This one’s already got a date. Did that sound like Parcells? That’s what I was shooting for there.
So far I see no indication that Mac is pursuing Justin Houston ... and it's pissing me off.

I’ve been torn about whether or not we should trade down to fill more needs, but we seem to be doing a good job in doing that , and I too would love to see “that guy from Miami” signed. Sitton? As Sack mentioned, maybe we could grab our future center in the middle rounds. This could be a good year to do that, because I think there might be some good ones available.
I wish we would have gotten him. I don't think Harrison is the answer. I do know we got a good OL coach and after watching the Pats I know a good OL coach can turn chicken shit into chicken salad.
