Smartphones only

Unlikely to affect me in the foreseeable future, but apparently admission to Metlife is to be restricted to smartphone owners. Are these really so ubiquitous in the States? In the good ol' UK a lot of people don't have them, particularly older folk. Even so there is a concerted effort to 'encourage' smartphone takeup. The excuse for Metlife is that apparently paper tickets or printouts can be forged, whereas an image on a smartphone screen is secure!

Smartphones are just tracking devices and now COVID passports. If I could function with my day to day activities without one I would. They have many features that make life easier, but also make it easier for tracking our movements, spending habits, etc. I miss my Blackberry.

I used to wait for the ticket package to arrive .
Back on the 70s it was just the tickets plain and simple
80s brought a little more like pics on the stubs and a year book !!!!
90s gave a nice package of tix and schedule etc ..
2000s brought elaborate tix package and promos
2010s we got a hat or a scarf !!
Our last year 3 years back you get the ticket around your neck with the uploaded info
Our last year before covid I had to download on my phone
They’re saving money on printing paper and packaging
They can stick it all now
Some day I have to calculate what those tickets cost me fir 50 years

I’m a TV fan now

I'm sure I'll be much happier watching on the new 77" tv then if Ihad to pay a zillion dollars, drive for hours in traffic and then sit in some seat in the too cold or too hot weather with my binoculars so I can actually see the players

plus I can go straight to the SNY postgame which most times is the highlight of the day.

Even through the disaster of the 70s at Shea we had a lot of fun
Freezing our ass off on metal portable bleachers
I got a million stories

Not a great ride but again
Guess it was anywhere from 1 1/2 to 2+ hours depending on traffic
A lot of fun

when the move came to the meadowlands it became a breeze of a ride
