Couldn't agree more with this. I was saying earlier (diff players but same idea) we should do what we did in 2006 with brick and mangold and take 2 stud OL with our top 2 picks. Whether its the OT from Texas and the G from ND, or whatever combo I think this is the best thing we could do.

I can certainly see at least one OL? However, more than likely in the 2nd round for a few reasons:

1) Mac is going to select a QB IMO. Probably a 1st rounder? Mayfield would be an EXCELLENT choice if that's what Mac opts to do.

2) Mac will also have the freedom of using FA to get proven commodities for the OL. Plenty of dollars in the till for top notch proven players. My feeling is Mac will want to net two new faces along the OL. One coming through FA.

I can certainly agree with any scenario that gets us some reinforcements along the OL. Our top priority though, is finding the long term solution at QB and then OL. After QB we have to find the next Mangold/Mawae. I would like to do that in FA. Not sure if one will be available in FA, but perhaps the 2nd most important position on the OL is a glaring hole for us and a must to address. My hope for the draft is that we don't have to trade away assets to trade up for a top QB prospect. Have been reading that Josh Allen (QB Wyoming) is the apple of MM's eye or the Mayfield kid, both of which may be available in the middle of the first round. That would be ideal because the rest of the draft could be used to build the OL foundation, as well as edge and CB. Going to be an interesting offseason.

I agree. Parcells found Mawae through FA. Parcells knew the paramount importance of a truly great Center. Parcells teams were always well known for having great Center play. In 1998 he found Kevin Mawae and paid him top notch money to steal him away from Seattle. He tuned out to be a GREAT addition.

However, he also found a QB in the same offseason. Maybe not even realizing he found a truly great QB? He found Testaverde and at least under Parcells coaching, Testaverde was an EXCELLENT QB.

Wouldn't it be an absolute HOME RUN if Mac could manage the same offseason? Mac finds not only another great Center like Mawae and Mangold, but he also finds that long term answer at QB? A guy that Jets fans can brag is every bit as good as the biggest name QB's in the game today? Is durable. And everyone has no doubt he's got the goods to take the Jets all the way.

In fact, that's my new dream. When I fantasize about Jets glory of the future, I want it to be after Mac found the true diamond in the rough Center and QB. Where early on next season everyone on those NFL shows are already singing the Jets praises. Two leaders on offense?

I certainly like the idea of going OL in rounds 1 & 2 much more than two safeties in those spots..

but I'm with maine on drafting a QB in round 1.. it's time to fix the QB situation long-term..

2) Mac will also have the freedom of using FA to get proven commodities for the OL.

He's had the chance to do that before and hasn't. He has a "reputation" for finding quarterbacks, and we all know how that has worked out. And we're still left with an O-line that couldn't protect a lemonade stand.

Maybe someone should give him Parcells' phone number, so Bill could remind him how important the O-line is.

I am 100% fine with us taking O-line players with our two of our top 3 picks. Right now, we have a 1st and two second round picks. If the Jets are not able to grab one of the top QBs they targeted in the 1st, and a top O-lineman is on the board, I am fine with it. Looking at this roster now - O-line, is the biggest weakness next to QB. We could add players at RB and WR. Defense, we need another corner and a pass rusher, and depth on the d-line and in the secondary. When you think about it, the Jets are really not that far away with a good off season from being competitive in the next two years.

Watching the Jets post-game show today, seems like Ray Lucas & Willie Colon... think the Jets should draft the "Big Fatties" as well

This would be a great scenario. Not sure if Cousins leaves the Redskins

I'm not sure about it either. I don't think he wants to stay but Washington could franchise him again. The question is, does Washington want to pay him $34 Million for one season.

IF we are in a position to get one of the TOP QB's in the draft that has to happen. The OL in rds 2 and 3. And with a better QB you'll be amazed at how much better this OL will look. Half the sacks this year are on McCown not moving in the pocket or just holding onto the ball to long. Now this OL definitely needs some help but this OL improves drastically with a QB that A) has some pocket presence and B) can get rid of the ball, throw it away I don't care if your compl % goes from 69 to 64 because you are making the smart decision to throw it away.

Sadly when the games are tight McCown has no presence in the pocket and makes bad decisions. SO get a QB NO MATTER WHAT!!

The only problem I see is that all the "TOP QB's in the draft" .... this year look like ... "projects" and not "Can't Miss" guys.... !!!
