Sounds like Robby Anderson made a strong first impression

I know its only a rookie orientation, but as first impressions go it sounds like Robby Anderson made a good one. From everything I have been able to read and gather, his 4.3's speed has translated in this rookie camp, the kid is blowing by people and creating the kind of separation downfield that makes you take notice, and he has the size (6' 3"/190/4.34) Chan Gailey prefers from his WR's too, albeit he can add a little more weight. We'll see what it amounts too in mini camp and training camp, when the pads go on, but he seems to have made a strong first impression.

If I had to bet I would say he plays special's this year or hailmary situations and peake is our screen wr.

Well, isn't it a fair question? That's the way I see It. If you have guys that can take the top off the defense, but no QB to get the guys the ball, then how often are those guys taking the top off the defense???? It's about as useful as someone owning a Ferrari and living in Maine. Or someone owning a Ford Raptor and living in NYC. Or a submarine with screen doors...

That pas at the 22 sec mark is my whole entire argument for the timing of a throw... Fitz throws that ball 2 yds befre the WR even gets near the safety and by the TIME the ball gets to the WR he is 2 yds past the Safety..... Don't need a strong arm just got to throw it at the right time.... It's called precision offense.... it's literally what the West Coast offense is all about as pointed out by another poster Montana and his rocket arm... LOL

a.) taking the top off of a defense isn't only about a WR's Speed & a QB's arm.
b.) there have been slower, shorter WR's combined with weaker armed QB's who did it.

IMO, it's mostly about both being able to work together, and the WR seeing the hole vacated down field & running to it, combined with the QB being able to hit the hole vacated or uncovered by a D, and leaving enough air under it for the WR to get it.

Can fitz make a living throwing 15 yard outs with man coverage...no way
Can Fitz hit guys in stride...yup.

the question for Smith & Robby is can they set the throw up for Fitz by showing him they're going to the right spot?

the other question is, and this is mainly on Smith's inability to do it last year, can they adjust to balls in the air when their is tight coverage?
