The Pittsburgh Steelers have been linked to moving up in the 2022 NFL Draft to pick a quarterback, but will one be available?

“I know the Steelers absolutely like him…they like a lot of the things they liked about Ben Roethlisberger. Arm strength. Athleticism. Plays he can make in and out of the pocket.”

Pro Football Network’s Tony Pauline on Pittsburgh Steelers interest in Malik Willis (H/T Andrew Fillipponi)

There is some speculation that the Carolina Panthers who hold the 6th pick are also high on the Liberty Quarterback.

So here is the twist of all this mess, the newly hired assistant formerly head coach of the Miami Dolphins all but closed the door in the Steelers to trade up to 5th overall with the New York Giants who are said to be one of the teams being sued by the newly hired staff member. So to jump in front of the Panthers to grab their new quarterback the logical would be with the New York Jets at 4 because of the draft pick compensation would be less then trying to land in the top 3.

What will Joe Douglas and the New York Jets ask for to allow the Steelers to make that sort of trade move?

That's a huge jump (#20 - #4). I would ask for (two #1's), (Three #2's), (Three #3's), (Two #4's). or (three #1's), (two #2's), (one #3, 5, 7).

nope would be this year's 1st 2nd and 3rd next years 2nd and 3rd would do it we out of the Top 3 it is not that much to move up, we could instead of next years 2nd and 3rd ask for the 1st but again won't cost them what you are saying, that is crazy talk... now if another team comes in to the frame then could get another 2nd in 2024 from the Steelers to seal the deal but thats it...

That’s a very interesting take, the Giants telling the Steelers to F OFF, after hiring Flores..
What if Thibodeaux is sitting there at 4?

After the combine I don't see him going past the top 3.

I think he's going to show absolute freakish athletism @ the combine while setting the show on fire.

Right now I have him going to the Texans but after the combine I don't think Jacksonville will be able to pass him up.

for KT for him to show up at the Combine he would need to be better than
40 yard: 4.68
Broad Jump: 122 inches
10 Yard Split: 1.60
3 Cone: 7.00 sec
Bench Press at 225: 30 reps
if he can do that then maybe but still see him falling out of the top 5!

i am all for moving down and getting a boat load of picks.

Wentz's cost for Eagles to move from 8 to 2:

Goff's cost for Rams to move from 15 to 1:

But why in the world would they not stay put at 20, and take Carson Strong from Nevada? i like him every bit as much as Willis, Corral, Howell.

nice to meet you Mike Tomlin... but word is the Steelers organization is high on Malik Willis... so if they like their guy then you go get your guy no matter the cost... you don't settle for your third option...

Top 3 costs, 4th pick not so much:

Value for Pick No. 1 = 3000
Value for Pick No. 2 = 2600
Value for Pick No. 3 = 2200
Value for Jets Pick No. 4 = 1800 - Reasons the Jets won't get top billing as those two trades inside the Top 3!!!
Getting 1st, 2nd & 3rd this year plus 2nd & 3rd next year will = roughly 1900 points with presumably the Steelers picking in the back end of rounds!!!

i hear you, and agree...but we are talking about the Steelers who are pretty stingy about draft capital. i am just saying it would shock me for them to move that far up for that cost in a down QB draft.

like i said, i will take it!! i get the equivalence charting of the picks, and for us it is better! in fact, give me a similar suitor for #10, and i am in for that too.

stingy because they had Big Ben for how many years?
they trade first round picks for players...
stingy is irrelevant when talking about the Big Hole at QB, they tried to draft and failed with Rudolph, bringing in a former 1st round that was cut but they all failed to prove it...

from close sources Mike Tomlin and GM Joe Douglas spent 28 minutes conversing at the Senior Bowl... Mind you Joe Douglas worked for the cross town Eagles & Steeler's number one rival Baltimore Ravens so for him to be talking to Tomlin something could be brewing there, maybe Tomlin gauging what it would take to move up or they were just talking about the stars and the sky...

give me a similar suitor for #10
Loomis from the Saints like Tomlin was caught talking to Joe Douglas at the Senior Bowl for a lengthy time not once but twice... The word is that the Saints don't want to take the leftover of the two QBs that themselves and the Washington Commanders like... Commanders pick 11, Saints would need to move in front to pick their guy (Matt Corral? or Sam Howell?) and would likely cost 2 2nds with their 18th overall... So Saints offer this year's 2nd plus 2023 2nd to move from 18 to 10, seems logical, no?

Here is a third one for free:
If the Jets do indeed trade with Saints move back to 18 expect the Jets to double dip and trade with the Bengals assuming Trevor Penning is still on the board at 18 and he should be. The Jets get the 31st overall and 2023 1st for the Bengals to move up and get their franchise left tackle Penning...

At the end of the day the Jets could be sitting with the:

20th Pittsburgh
31st Bengals
35th own
39th own
49th Saints
52nd Pittsburgh
69th own
84th Pittsburgh
109th Panthers
115th Vikings
145th own
162nd Pittsburgh

2023:
Jets 1st
Bengals 1st
Pittsburgh 2nd
Saints 2nd
Jets 2nd
Jets 3rd
Pittsburgh 3rd

i am guessing Jahan at 31, but i don't know who at 20?
actually Trey McBride if he is still on the board would be an ideal get there...
20 Travon Walker UGA
consideration for Jahan Dotson at 20 being he has been mocked from 23 - 34...
we will see how he is mocked after the Combine & Pro Days...
but those are three I believe are viable...

Travon is my favorite DE in this draft.... over Thibs, Ojabo, Karlaf, and Hutch.

great minds think alike... I believe Travon is versatile replica of JFM can lineup at DE or IDL...
I also like Logan Hall as a tie at 2nd best overall with Karlaftis...
KT has questions about his "Fire"?
Hutch & Ojabo are 1 year wonders...
