He'd be a good add but I think we are set with Forte and Powell. We are also in position to pick a stud rb in the draft.
the way i see it, it's powell's turn next season to be our lead back unless we get an impact RB in the draft.. but even if we do, powell has to be in the mix..
i can't see justifying forte being on the roster during a full rebuild..
The Jets have never explained why Powell was never a feature back. He led the nfl when Chris ivory went down, he's always been great. They must have no faith that he can carry the load of an entire season. Again,Forte might be viewed as a sacrificial part that can better absorb the impact of playing time.
If this is the scenario, Forte would probably split time with the new rb,and Powell would continue 3rd down duties until the new rb is worked up to full speed.
But I would sign this guy at a fair price if I lived in a vacuum. I love these big bruisers.

if powell hasn't earned the right to be this regimes lead back after the second half of last season, bowles is a bigger dope than even i believe him to be..
high is the operative word here. he's in the middle of serving a 10 game suspension for drugs, his second suspension after missing the first 4 games last year.
i know fantasy isn't the same, but i took a gamble on this guy last year, stashing him on my roster after the bills cut him and his first suspension ended. team after team had RB openings and no one signed him. finally pitt put them on their practice squad (i think his brother is on the steelers) but i don't know if he ever played in a game last year.
I agree but I see keeping Forte is more of an admission that were going to have to throw to the RBs a lot, for multiple reasons. If you're committed to developing a QB, you have to have some areas of competence for him to develop around.
I guess I'm just hoping that if they sign McCown it's as a backup, or a very temporary starter.
McCown is just good enough to relieve Petty in week 12, and help us win 2 out of our last 4 games, effectively eliminating us from the Sam Darnold sweepstakes.

Need to go with Petty and Hack and suck if thats what supposed to happen. We don't need a Fitz or another retread to fuck up our pick.
i'll take it a step further..
regardless of who we might end up signing, the only QBs i want to see taking regular season snaps will be (in no particular order) both petty & hackenberg..
now if we draft a QB instead of signing a JAG?? that could change me opinion..
What we need is a sign in 15 inch glowing neon letters on the sidelines to occasionally remind Bowles that Powell is on the team and to use him.

Don't worry. If the Jets finish with the worst record in the league, they'll change the drafting rules.
