Stunning news: Andrew Luck has retired

Reminds me of Bert Jones ... second time a QB with great talent had to retire young on the Colts due to injuries.

I feel terrible for Andrew and Colts fans who have now had to live thru this TWICE.

For those who are too young to remember Bert Jones, he had an arm like Namath and the mentality of a linebacker. Had he stayed healthy and had a long career he definitely would have been a first ballot HOF'er. IMO he was even better than Luck, hard as that is to believe.

This is the second time older Colts fans had to live thru this, a GREAT QB forced to retire in his prime due to injuries.

As a Jets fan, I don't feel like I need to feel sorry for any fan of another team.
It's certainly true that we've had our fair share of horrible luck with injuries and alike, and nobody felt sorry for us.

I distinctly recall Patriots fans mocking Chad and Jets fun after he returned from a shoulder injury and lost his fastball, calling him "chicken arm" etc.

The NFL just lost a great player. Wow. I’m stunned.

Just 29 years old. He left a lot of money out there. But the beating he took all those years took it’s toll. The Colts will be looking for their FQB next year.

Wow, B. Jones was definitely before my time. Well I was watching football around 78 and on but I don’t ever remember watching him or the Colts play. Damn he was good though. Super tough and could sling the ball. Yeah he definitely was a first ballot guy!

As for Luck that’s gotta hurt just as bad. Luck was a beast and definitely on his way to becoming a first ballot guy. Especially if he could have helped the Colts win at least one SB. Injuries are apart of the game and take there tool on some players more then others. He will be missed!

And later today I fully expect Baker to come out and say Luck was a pussy and a quitter.

Baker will get punched in the mouth real good this year. Just wait, it’s coming! I’m hoping it will be the Jets to do it but I’ll take whoever is willing to step up and get it done.

this is why you don't get cute getting & keeping proper protection (with depth) for your FQB.. as franchise you watch the guy get the shit kicked out of him before you take protecting him seriously??

i appreciate douglas completely gets that.. the last guy sure as hell didn't..

the league lost a great talent way to soon..

This is also why I can't shut-up about pleading with the Jets to offer the Redskins a 2 for LT Trent (Silverback) Williams.

I don't care if he's 31. OL's tend to have a longer shelf life and it's also about protecting the franchise now, #14.

OBTW did I mention Trent Williams has been to seven straight Pro Bowls, including last year?

With all due respect to Beachum, that's a HOF Left-Tackle who actually went 315 consecutive pass plays without allowing a sack, or was it 345?

Jadeveon Clowney is a bigger need, and he’s available. The Texans are taking offers, and reportedly want a starting caliber WR thrown into any deal. 26 years old. Great against the run, and a better edge rusher than anything we currently have.

I remember Ham ,Jones was a good QB but not on the level of Luck.. He had one great year 1976 he threw for over 3,000 yds just twice but he did have a LB'er mentality which is why he had only 3 years where he played the whole season. He always seemed to play well against the Jets.. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/J/JoneBe00.htm

Maybe in 10 or 12 years when brady retires, Belichick can coax Luck out of retirement to fill his hands with rings

to late, IMO..

a HOF talent left the game before his 30th birthday..

again, so happy no chance this happens under douglas' watch here with our kid..

I know. They should have spent some money on O line while he was playing. Sad story... but at least the Colts are human enough to let him keep his bonuses

Here’s the thing, I’m having a hard time believing Luck will take more then this year off and still want to stay retired. He’s only 29 years old and a phenomenal athlete and QB. He may be ready to come back after a full year off of rejuvenating his body and love for the game. What I question now, is after the way the Colts fans treated him when they found out in that preseason game, if he ever wants to come back, will he want to come back to Indy? That was cold blooded the way the fans throw all that shade at him. Emotional news I know but you gotta know it’s not like Luck actually wants to do this. He has too for the sake of his health, sanity and future endeavors.

No he isn't.

Did you see that play last night, when the DE or OLB came off Sam's blindside untouched, like he was shot out of a cannon, and he hit Sam so hard it looked like he killed him?

Making sure THAT never, ever happens again is our biggest need, unless you want Sam giving Andrew Luck press conferences in his 20's too.
