Suggested Wilkerson trade...

Concerning the salary cap, I had posted this in another Wilkerson thread.

"That's not exactly accurate. The cap is supposedly going to surpass $150 mil in 2016. Here's what we have so far. By the way, if we resign Mo, I believe Coples(who had his option picked up for 2016) will be traded. That will save $7 mil+."

We'll have plenty of flexibility to keep Mo.

I dont think it is safe to project cap room on possible trades...

If and I mean If the plan is to trade him him for whatever reason doesn't fit bowles system, asking for watt money or a host of other things that we are not privy to if I was mac I would wait until after pre-season for two reasons who knows if another teams starting dt/de gets hurt and the second reason although I have no doubt williams can play in the NFL it would be nice to see him in game time action so we can determine if he can adequately replace mo.

+1 Without pads on the Manning boys have both lost the starting LT's on their teams.. Look how many players are out for the season already and camp doesn't even start till the end of July..

Perfect time to trade Mo and get the QB from Penn State or Mich St. with a Jags top 5 pick.

Perfect time to go 4-2-5 with :
DE - Coples
DT - Snacks
DT - Williams
DE - Richardson

LB - Harris
LB - Davis

CB - Revis
SCB - Skrine
CB - Cromartie
SS - Pryor
FS - Gilchrist

I doubt the Jags trade next years 1st round pick. Wilkerson probably doesn't help get them out of the basement of the AFC South but a top 5 QB next season could change turn things around.

How about keeping him. I think we would never get equal value. Jet fans want a top ten pick. Not happening. Hold on to him

And with all due respect, who's going to set the edge on the weak side? Coples? He doesn't have the discipline nor can he play in space. Unfortunately this is not fantasy football. Talent has to mesh with scheme. And it's why the Jets drafted Mauldin to hopefully replace Pace in the future.

With Mo,Sheldon and Williams you can't afford to give all 3 big contracts when the time comes..

69, Without having to pay a franchise QB HUGE $$$$, I think we could afford to keep all 3 around for a long time, the problem is Mo's agent who feels Mo is worth Suh or Watt type money. Mo you are very good, but you can't hold Watt's or Suh's jock IMHO. Plus he did not play in all 16 games last year.

Not happening. You don't trade your good football players. Nobody knows what Williams will be
ESPN Jets reporter Rich Cimini said "there's only a five percent chance" Muhammad Wilkerson is traded before the season.
"It's not zero because you never say "never" in the NFL," Cimini said. "It doesn't make sense to trade him because they probably wouldn't get anything in return that could help them in 2015." Wilkerson became less integral to the Jets' plans after they selected Leonard Williams with the No. 6 overall pick, but he is still one of the top 3-4 defensive ends in the league. Wilkerson has been absent from the Jets' offseason program as he seeks a long-term extension.

For all you 3-4 lovers out there, I think Williams would make a fantastic 3-4 DE replacing Wilkerson.

DE - Williams
NT - Snacks
DE - Richardson

OLB - Mauldin
ILB - Harris
ILB - Davis
OLB - Pace

CB - Revis
CB - Cromartie
SS - Pryor
FS - Gilchrist

Didn't the Texans do that with Mario Williams when they switched to a 3-4, I believe it was his last year in Houston, and he actually did great at it, and thats who Leonard Williams really reminds me of, Super Mario.

I think they did, so its not unprecedented to try a stud 300 Pound DE at RUSH OLB in the 3-4, rare, but its been done.

That would certainly put a WHOLE new spin on the rationalization for why we took the pick in the first place . . .

Mo to the Raiders for their 2016 #1 .

Its a no brainer. you do it. With Carr entering his 2nd season alonside top dogs in Oaklands division, the Jets would definetly crack the top 10. Also, the Jets would have enough ammo to stock pile picks to draft a top flight QB to competet with Bryce Petty.

In this age of instant gratification its a tough sell, they would have a really hard time explaining that to Jets fans, but you're right, if the Jets snag a TOP 10 Pick in next years draft, lets say the same pick we had this year, the 6th overall pick, we would almost definitely be in a position to draft a legit blue-chip, potential franchise QB, because there could be as many as four in next years draft; Jones, Hackenberg, Goff and Cook, and all four have a chance to grade out even higher than Winston or Mariota, this years top two picks. 2016 could be the best QB class in a decade.

The Raiders gave up a 1st rd pick for a close to 30 year old Seymour so a 1st for a 25 year old Mo should be a no brainer..:not-happy-to-say-by

Different front office making those decisions now.( Mckenize loves his draft choices) The Raiders should have like 80 Million to play with in Fa next year(that's not counting 20 million they could roll over).

They can see if the Jets will franchise Wilkerson for 14 million, when they have a way cheaper option in leonard Williams. Wilkerson hits free agency it might not cost them anything.

I would offer the jets, the Raiders second round pick( going to be expensive to sign) in exchange for Muhammad Wilkerson. That isn't good enough than move on. let's see if they get a better offer.
