Suggested Wilkerson trade...

Then it's irrelevant. A trade benefits neither team. Jets keep Mo, or deal him to another team more willing to give up the picks.
Exactly I don't see a trade possible between both the teams. The Jets will look to get the best deal they can get for M Wilkerson , or elect to sign him. Hope it works out because it stinks when you don't get fair compensation for a talented player.

Let run a couple of scenario's at you. Do you think M Wilkerson going to hold out from training camp? Do players who miss training camp are they more suspectible to injury? Now Wilkerson misses a couple of game to injury, due to him missing camp, and has a subpar year.
Do you really think the Jets are going to pay him fourteen million( franchise tag) under that scenario when they have a way cheaper option already on the roster. Also Jets franchise tag him and he signs that contract than the Jets can't trade him .( are locked in at 14 million. jets can trade him as long he doesn't sign the franchise tag right away. Case in point Raiders were all prepared to trade c Woodson under the franchise tag again. He blew up those plans when he signed that contract right away. ( couldn't be traded). goes on to miss a lot of games due to injury , and leaves to the Packers in free agency in Fa.( no way we're they going to tag him off of that year)

now if Wilkerson has sub par season due to holdout, will the Browns head coach still be all over him when he hits free agency.

Jmo I think M Wilkerson will be traded this year before the season starts. They might have to take the best offer they get. As Jet fan you hope that would be a first rounder( fair compensation) but should be prepared to take a little less

LOL -- I appreciate the effort you put into these posts, but here's what you're essentially saying:

"Mo Wilkerson MIGHT hold out, which MIGHT make him get hurt, which MIGHT make him have a subpar year, which MIGHT lead to the Jets not wanting to franchise him, which MIGHT lead to losing him in FA for nothing --

so they should probably take a 2nd rounder for him and don't look back" . . .

You can trade a player once he signs his franchise tender.

https://in2theleague.wordpress.com/2013/05/29/nfl-cba-series-franchise-tag/

"If a player signs the contract, that player can be traded to another team, but the right to use the franchise tag on a player cannot be traded."

What player was ever traded when he signed his tender. BRandon Albert the example they used could'nt have been released from franchise tag. The Chiefs wouldn't be able to rescind the franchise tag if he signed. He signed as unrestricted Fa with the Dolphins. Do you know one player that signed his franchise tag and was traded.( I believe you lose that franchise tag for the lifetime of that player who was traded under that scenario.- wouldn't be good with Sheldon Richardson )

the Jets are going to try to get the best offer they possible can get( hope it at least a first rounder- fair compensation) . not going to be in a rush to give him away. There are a lot of scenario that can change this situation in M Wilkerson or the Jets favor. case in point. m Wilkerson is holding out , and the Jets lose one of their big name defense lineman for the season. Now whose holding all the Cards now in negotiations. likewise some team with legitimate Super Bowls aspirations could lose their top Dlineman, and Jets could get the haul they want.
The only point I think the Jets have to decide if they want to sign him , or if they want to trade him. I don't think you can let this situation fester all year.

Cam Jordan's new deal is in line with what I was expecting Mo to receive.

Big move in New Orleans, as Saints + DE Cam Jordan have agreed to a 5-year extension worth up to $60 million, source tells @FOXSports1

He reacted to that offer, Mo did. I'll find the article.

The reasons the Raiders get mentioned is that their pick is ALWAYS a top 5 pick AND their owner and Dan Snyder are among the only ones dumb enough to throw away such picks

if that part you listed was correct, than I was wrong. ( must be new from last collective bargain contract) Still for all do purposes it doesn't apply to the Jets because you would lose the ability to use the franchise tag( if I have this one right) for life of Muhammad Wilkerson contract if he was traded under the tag .( not going to happen with Sheldon Richardson contract up in a couple years)

1:47 pm Mo, tell us how you really feel.
Following Tuesday's news that the New Orleans Saints gave defensive end Cam Jordan a five-year, $60 million deal, the pressure is now on the New York Jets to secure the future of their own star defensive end. With contract negotiations ongoing to extend Muhammad Wilkerson's stay with the team in this the final year of his rookie contract, the market value of the former first round pick just went up after Jordan's deal.
All of which led Wilkerson on Tuesday to take to Twitter shortly after news about Jordan's extension trickled out:
"Yup I see how this works," Wilkerson wrote.
Given their relative comparability in production – Wilkerson has 237 tackles and 24.5 sacks in four seasons and Jordan has 196 tackles and 29 sacks in as many NFL campaigns – it isn't far-fetched to think that the Jets would need to offer their star defensive end similar money. They do hold a bargaining chip, however, with the selection of Leonard Williams with the sixth overall pick in April's NFL Draft.
Considered the top player on many draft boards, Williams could be a natural replacement should the Jets look to unload Wilkerson via a trade or prove unable to sign him to a long-term deal. Suddenly, it is looking more and more likely that Wilkerson won't be a Jet beyond this season, if he makes it even that far.

This is scary. In my opinion, the writing is on the wall

I think mo is making it easy to trade him. Maybe straight up for Brady?
I think the Jets don't value him at 15 per year, at this point I'd give him the 11 range. The Jets can play the waiting game while seeing what Williams actually is, and let the trade market come to them. I honestly thought we'd keep him for 2 years before resigning him, but by holding out he doesn't know the system, which makes trading him easier.

If the Jordan money is what we could resign Mo for, I would absolutely do that. $12MM for him for five years?
