Geez, I hope you're going to write a book about your Dad's adventures. He sounds like he had a fantastic life. Was he in the entertainment world?
No it is a long story he was in the baking business but started a radio Ad company in the 40's called radio spot specialist. He became freinds with the owner or editor of Photoplay Magazine & would get older actresses or actors on the cover again for discount for his clients on doing radio spots. This gave him a key to Hollywood lol. He & pickford became friends & I have a letter wishing him well on his marriage to my Mom. He also said to dad when he was single,,,,,,,,"Bob don't marry one of these girls I know what you are doing out here but don't get attached. It will destroy you"

Dad also was a great dancer Fred Astaire stopped him at a hollywood party & said sir you are a great dancer.......But it stopped there as I stepped all over my wife's feet during our wedding,,,,,even a small rip in her gown......The apple must have really rolled far from the tree this time.

I am fascinated with stories like your Dad's. What a time to have had those experiences. The world was still so small and being in that era's Hollywood must have been mind blowing. Amongst other things. lol Thanks for sharing this, butterscotch.

That's absolutely insane. Astaire telling you that you're a great dancer? What a compliment. No wonder your Dad was an ace with the ladies. Women always gravitate to skilled dancers.

I'm a dunce on the dance floor as well.

I can also see Elizabeth Taylor on the cover of Photoplay Magazine. Then again I could see Rags The Tiger with Crusader Rabbit.

Tons of cds and dvds of bootleg and of course I have every bit of official released stuff.
Most of the concerts are on MP3 files
Yea I’ve gone a little bit over the top but enjoy Frank .
So you see why I don’t mesh with today’s music .
Sound like some really old guy don’t I ?
Hey, everybody should collect something. I tried collecting beer, but every morning when I woke up, my collection was empty and I had to start over.

ok. Here’s my Sinatra story. My father was a self proclaimed lady’s man back in the day and if there was something wild and fun to do, he did it, from racing stock cars, motorcycles to even once riding a bull. He pretty much had at least one of everything. This of course lead to a lot of great stories that he loved to tell, that may have been true, imagined or embellished. I’ll never know.
he ended up with dementia really bad , where he could no longer finish a story. One of the last times, if not the last time, he told a story to completion may have been the best. After high school he joined the Navy for a short time and spent his time on subs.

His story goes like this. I probably don’t have the story totally correct but the end is still correct. He was stationed or had a layover in Miami . Him and some Navy buddies hit the bars in their Navy uniforms looking to get lucky. who do you think He met at the bar?Sinatra of course. Pop’s said he noticed there uniforms and offered to buy them drinks. They hung out for a while shootin the shit and when Sinatra found out they were lookin to meet some ladies, he introduced them as his friends to some hotties.

I have no idea if the story is true or not, and if it was, why I never heard it before in 80 years so I asked him exactly that. “Pops, that’s a great story, are you sure it’s true and why the hell did I never hear it before. He just laughed. I like to think t was true. He did have that kinda luck
