Super Bowl LIV, the 54th Super Bowl and the 50th modern-era National Football League (NFL) championship game, will decide the champion for the NFL's 2019 and 100th season. The National Football Conference (NFC) champion San Francisco 49ers will face the American Football Conference (AFC) champion Kansas City Chiefs. The game is scheduled to be played on February 2, 2020, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. This will be the 11th Super Bowl hosted by the South Florida region and the sixth Super Bowl hosted in Miami Gardens, which hosted Super Bowl XLIV ten years earlier. The game will mark both the first time a Super Bowl did not feature either Tom Brady or Peyton Manning and the first time the AFC was represented by a team other than the Patriots or Broncos in a Super Bowl since XLVII.

The game will be broadcast in the United States by Fox, and the halftime show will be co-headlined by Jennifer Lopez and Shakira.

San Francisco 49ers

This will be San Francisco’s seventh Super Bowl appearance, and their first since Super Bowl XLVII in 2013, when they lost to the Baltimore Ravens 34–31.

Kansas City Chiefs
Main article: 2019 Kansas City Chiefs season
The Chiefs started the season with a 1–3 record at home. However, they began the season 4–0 on the road. With a Week 14 Oakland Raiders loss and a win over the New England Patriots, the Chiefs clinched the AFC West, extending their team record division title streak to four consecutive. They also clinched the franchise's fifth consecutive playoff appearance, one short of the franchise record of six consecutive from 1990–1995. Additionally, they also clinched their second straight bye to the Divisional round of the AFC playoffs. The Chiefs also finished undefeated in the AFC West for the second time under Andy Reid, extending their record within the AFC West since 2015 to 27–3. In the Divisional round, the Chiefs defeated the Houston Texans 51–31 despite falling behind 24–0 in the second quarter to give the Chiefs playoff wins in back-to-back seasons for the first time in franchise history. The 51 points they scored was a franchise record for a postseason game. The win, along with a Baltimore Ravens' loss the previous night, allowed the Chiefs to host the AFC Championship for the second time in franchise history. They defeated the Tennesse Titans 35–24 in the AFC Championship advancing to Super Bowl LIV.

This will be the Chiefs' third Super Bowl appearance. They previously played in Super Bowl I in 1966, losing to the Packers 35–10, and Super Bowl IV in 1969, when they defeated the Minnesota Vikings 23–7.

I wanted to see Kansas City get some payback for SB I and kick the living s**t out of the Packers. But at least we won't have to endure endless pictures of the smirking face of Vince Lombardi.
As an original AFL fan, all I can say is GO Chiefs!

I see Mike Pennel featured in two big defensive plays. Just goes to show you don't need a #3 draft pick to get a big run-stuffer. Why can't we find players like that?

OK guys, the Superbowl has been saved this year and my beer and hot dogs are in the fridge ready. So who do you like, the erratic but explosive Chiefs or the grinding 49ers? I say Andy Reid finally wins the big one.

As a fan of the old AFL, I would root for the Game of Thrones' White Walkers if they were wearing the AFC patch.
Go Chiefs!

Does anyone think the 9ers let the Chiefs score that last TD, so they could get the ball back and two timeouts?

I wanted Mahomes to throw the ball in bounds on the last play of the game instead of wasting it. The receiver was all alone, just a few feet in bounds from where he threw it. I wanted to see the ex-AFL team rub it in. and he could have crawled to the end zone.
