Will take place next week -- on July 9.

4 players have declared themselves as eligible:

West Georgia DT, Dalvon Stuckey
West Georgia DE, Darrius Caldwell
Clemson OT, Isaiah Battle
No Carolina Central, WR, Adrian Willkins

I don't know much about the other 3, Battle is a guy that could generate some interest and we certainly could use depth behind Breno & Brick. Might be worth watching next week.

More on Isaiah Battle from CBS/NFL Draft Scout:

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/...tely-earn-interest-in-nfls-supplemental-draft

For the first time since the Cleveland Browns invested a second round pick in wide receiver Josh Gordon in 2012, there will be a player selected in the NFL's annual Supplemental Draft.

At least, that's the early opinion of one highly-ranked NFL scout after news surfaced this week that 6-foot-6, 290 pound left tackle Isaiah Battle will be leaving Clemson early.

"Big upside athletically," the scout wrote in a text message. While the scout wouldn't go so far as to give a round projection, he expected that clubs would "definitely" be interested in the 22-year old Brooklyn, NY native, assuming that Battle checks out medically and character-wise.

While the Supplemental Draft has become a catch-all of sorts for prospects with off-field issues that endangered their eligibility, Battle's choice to leave school early for a shot at the NFL came due to family obligations.

"I have some family matters to address, with a child due this summer, and I feel it is in my best interest to enter the NFL Supplemental Draft," Battle said in statement released on Clemson's official athletic website. "I want to thank everyone at Clemson, especially Coach [Dabo] Swinney and the assistant coaches, for what they have done for me the last three years. I also want to thank my teammates. They have all had a big impact on my career."

Battle played in 27 games for the Tigers over the past three seasons, starting 11 of 12 games a year ago and 16 contests, overall.

Before investing a draft pick, teams will, of course, want to investigate Battle closely.

Physically speaking, however, Battle's combination of height, arm length (35") and easy mobility will certainly intrigue the NFL. He is still pretty raw, showing only average functional strength at this time and too often bending at the waist rather than at the knees, which leaves him vulnerable to the bull rush and counters back to the inside. He'll need time to iron out the wrinkles and get stronger but the traits are there to warrant at least middle round consideration.

"We appreciate all that Isaiah has done for the program the last three years," Swinney said. "He has made great progress in his development and has been a big contributor to our success the last three years, especially in each of the last three bowl games when he had outstanding games against very talented defensive lines from LSU, Ohio State and Oklahoma. We wish him well in his pursuit of a professional career."

Agreed, Battle is a guy the Jets might target here depending on the round. The good news is, whatever round they deem is worth the risk, we have the 6th Pick in that round, so he doesn't have to fall very far to get to us.

For example if we decide he's worth losing a 5th RD Pick in next years draft, we don't have to sit there and hope 20 teams pass on him in the 5th RD first. All we need is for a handful of teams to pass in that spot and he's ours.

Very good point. If the Jets make the kind of step up in record that they expect to, considering the offseason spending and investment, one would think that their draft slot right now is more valuable than it will be next spring. Right now, they can spend an early fifth, for example, whereas in the spring, it might be a later fifth. And the guy is around for this year.

I'd look at Battle.

I would definitely look. But as I have read a little more about the guy, he does have some off field concerns. A couple of failed drug tests and an arrest in June for possession. After the June arrest, he decided to declare for the supplemental draft.

Couldn't resist could you lol

:) I didn't mean it...but would love a young developmental OT to sit and learn behind Breno and Brick a year while improving from 290 by getting a head start in an NFL workout regimen and pushing for PT next year.

Agree 100% Even if we selected a LT in next years draft, he'd still be coming in Raw. Taking a LT with a 4th rd. pick in the supplemental gives him a yr. to sit, learn and lift!

I'd be more than willing to give him Colon's spot on the roster. This guy has the feet, arms and bulk to be a LT... only question is the heart and smarts.

I say go for broke!

Other question is character. He was suspended for throwing a pucnh during a game and recently was caught with drugs (I believe marijuana), which is likely what prompted his decision to declare for the supplemental draft. I believe he also failed a couple of drug tests while at Clemson. He has all the physical tools you want in a LT, but given the character concerns, I am not sure I would be willing to part with a 4.

OT will be the next big priority for MM, so starting with Supplemental Draft might not be a bad idea. The big caveat for me is the off the field behavior.

Jets really need to be all in on him if they take him. Next year's draft class is deep, and grabbing a player now eliminates a player you'd target with that pick next year and handcuff your ability to deal picks to move up or down in the draft (you'd be less likely to move up if you have less picks to deal).

I think a 4th is the highest pick I'd give up. With all his off the field issues, we're not talking about a rd 1 pick, likely not even rd 2...so Jets should be conservative (rd 4 or 5).

Worst case scenario, we know our team scouted him, and if they dont make a play they didnt value him as much as prospects in next year's draft. No biggie, since he likely wouldn't contribute much this year anyway.

I wouldn't touch Battle with a ten foot pole ! He's had all sorts of issue's while @ Clemson. After being busted already more than once for pot, why would we risk a 4th round pick on a project ? Let some other team make the mistake, hope we pass.

with his baggage, i'm not sure i'd do higher than a 6th for him. maybe a 5th if they really like his potential and think he's worth the risk

Anyone know what the impact of the Fits trade is on us for the supplemental draft.

We gave up a conditional pick that could be a 6 or 7 depending on playing time. We obviously will have one of those two picks next season, but can we use either one of them in the supplemental draft. And how would that impact the pick going to Houston?

I would put a 6th round pick offer in for Clemson's OT Isaiah Battle if it works out it would be a steal.
