Looking at this secondary there is a clear need for bodies. Wouldn't be surprised after the way Buster Skrine played this past season that they may consider moving him to coverage safety as both Marcus Gilchrist and Calvin Pryor are better suited as strong/box safeties. If the coaching staff did make this move, there is some confidence in both Marcus Williams and Dexter McDougle to contend for the two starting roles. Williams was successful in replacing Cromartie when Cro was hurt. Dex started to earn playing time towards the second half of the season and didn't disappoint when he was on the field.
If Buster is moved to free safety, then Gilchrist is the center field strong safety and Pryor will be that hybrid linebacker/safety also known as box safety.
Dion Bailey is under contract this would leave one available spot for the remaining. Ronald Martin is under contract but is more likely to make the practice squad.
Rontez Miles earned his playing time last season and didn't disappoint when he was on the field but was it enough to earn another contract?
Jaiquawn Jarrett's only link to this team is his alumni with head coach Todd Bowles, he is more than likely gone.
The last option is probably the best to return unless his injury/recovery is not on track to this point. Antonio Allen has the diversity playing not one, nor two but four different positions. AA can lineup at coverage safety, strong safety, spur or box position, and nickel corner which makes him the most intriguing to return.
Looking forward, after next season Buster Skrine right now has one foot out after the porous 2015 campaign. Both Marcus Williams and Dion Bailey will receive a RFA tender for the fourth year under the CBA rookie contract. Dee Milliner is likely gone if he can not stay healthy, even so his fifth year team option being a top ten pick would be a ridiculous $14 million which is NOT going to happen. So many what ifs. But the biggest what if will the team draft a corner in the first two maybe three rounds of this year's draft planning for depth now and future starter?
