Tanking or simply rebuilding?

Why can't this just be called a youth movement? Why does everyone say the Jets are tanking?? Maybe the Jets are going young to get rid of the old, unproductive players and locker room cancers. I would rather watch a 23 year kid bust his ass to make a name for himself than watch Marshall or Revis roll out there again. We will get to see some young kids get valuable experience and hopefully get better individually and as a team. If they were tanking they would have dumped everyone over 28. They have youth and some experience. They are going to suck because of youth more than overall talent. Definitely have a long way to go, but with tons of money next year and a very high draft pick I think they will make some strides this year. I have stopped playing fantasy football and the stress that goes with high dollar leagues. I don't care about next year's Jets from a winning perspective. This will be my first stress free year in many years. It will be nice to cheer for some young guys that really want to follow a dream.

Here's the thing, management has to know the Jets aren't going to win anymore then about 5 games this year. With any QB we have on the roster, and the five is if their lucky. The oline and QB (whichever one) has to play half way decent for that to be the case. So in this case, they might as well start Hack the entire year. What the hell do they have loose???

And please don't say Hack's confidence because it comes a certain point where you either have it or you don't. Hack sat a full year without touching the field during real game time action. If he ain't ready now, then we might as well say he never will be. Especially on a shit team like this. No one is expected him to play lights out on this team.

He's not going to have the pressure on him like Dak had, for example. Dak was on a team everyone know was playoff ready and he was backing up a excellent QB. Hack has none of those worries. Just play half way decent and show us something positive this year. If he can't do that then IMO, he's not our QB anyway. That goes for the rest of the QBs on the roster.

Jets are in a win-win situation if you ask me. No one is expected anything from them. It isn't even like their trying to mask the fact that their trying to win this year. Their letting everyone know that they're in a major youth and overhaul movement. There's only 4 players 30 or over on this team and all of them aren't worthy of a starting spot. So let the youngsters play, mainly Hack and let's see how it works out.

Then Bowles should be fired. If done correctly we could get tons of experience for young guys especially QB's and find out what we have. A QB with a 2-22 recent record doesn't give anyone a better chance to win.

Its possible. I'm willing to give Bowles the benefit of the doubt, but he can't be allowed to screw up our draft pick if the #1 pick is in sight.

Well Rex has a losing overall record and was gifted a much better team in '09. Rex had a great two year run that was fun to watch. He has been a complete failure since. I'm not arguing the first two years. Bowles definitely doesn't have the same skins as Rex in first two years. I'm just hoping he can be successful from this point on where Rex had zero success after '09 and '10. At this point neither Rex nor Bowles are good HC's.

The problem with Bowles next year is I want to lose 14-15 games so it will be hard to judge him. The common denominator with Bowles and Rex is the Jets are a shitty franchise with boneheads running it. Neither have been given everything needed to succeed.

actually i believe it will be pretty easy to judge bowles this upcoming season..

show a willingness to give our young talent every opportunity to succeed..

have the team ready to play balls to the wall football every game.. regardless of his preference to play older guys, based on pure numbers, he's going to have to play a bunch of kids.. & if you can't get a bunch of kids to play hard, you have no business being an NFL HC..

win back the respect of the locker room by showing some balls!! stop cuddling/ignoring awful play from veterans.. stop letting veteran players do whatever the hell they want, whenever the hell they want..

Marshall was a cancer. Decker coming off two major surgeries. Mangold and Harris would fall into the unproductive category. Maybe none of them lazy, but I think Revis was lazy, unproductive and possibly a cancer. Time to move on from all of them and Mangold is the only one I care about because he could at least help a young QB learn.
