I still think using Goodells' precedent BB has to be hit at least as hard as anyone else. He is the HC and ignorance is no excuse.

Not sure about that. With the precedent of the Saints' case, Goodell established that the NFL will follow the same principle as the Navy: The captain is responsible for everything that happens. So even though the report does not condemn Belichick, I think he gets a penalty as severe as Payton. Ignorance of the cheating (not that I really think Belichick was ignorant of it) is no excuse.

Just as Gregg Williams was the main purpotrator of the Bounty scandal....Sean Payton was the LEADER OF THE TEAM..and ultimately is responsible for his players and coaches action, and suffered the same consequence........thereby..both Brady and Belidick should be suspended the year..This was an action that DIRECTLY affected ON THE FIELD play..not substance abuse..not off field issues..not awful words of tampering by an over exhuberant owner..THIS AFFECTED THE AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME REGARDLESS OF THE FINAL SCORE....
