Hate to say this and start this thread but this is a true statement:
So let’s get the obvious factors out the way that the Jets did correctly. They drafted Darnold and he will be just as just as Josh Allen and most likely better. So we’re good there. Only thing we have to hope for is that Darnold can start giving us full seasons of play so we can see what he can really do. Not saying he is injury prone but this is the second year that for whatever reason he’s missing some games. Jets signed the right free agents in Bell, Mosley and Crowder. I’ll give them credit for that.
Now for all the things they did blatantly wrong or Buffalo appears to have done better. The Bills have drafted or signed the right guys for today’s NFL that the Jets did not (other then Bell, Mosley and Crowder.) The Bills have signed or drafted young, fast, smart and aggressive players that are very hard to deal with. Combine that with the fact that Josh Allen is a tuff minded bastard that will just not give up and he has that it factor. Once again I’m not saying that Darnold doesn’t have this because he does but it’s the other factors that Allen has that Darnold doesn’t that hurts Darnold.
The Bills seem to have taken the model of building their team mainly through the draft, they draft correctly for their scheme (meaning they’ve hit on their high draft picks so far.) Their first round drafts picks that I know of are turning out to being excellent players and that is what the Jets are missing so far. Yes we have Darnold, Adams and Q. Williams but we sorta missed on every other first rounder over the past 7-10 years. That’s key to building a franchise. The Bills have drafted a secondary that is pretty much lights out at this point. Once again these players are young, fast, smart and aggressive.
The Bills have drafted linebackers and dline men that fit into whatever defensive scheme their running. I don’t know if we’re running a 4-3 or 3-4 but whatever it is it ain’t working. We can’t find a edge/pass rusher to save our lives, when Josh Allen was staring the Jets right in the damn face but they went with Q. Williams instead. We don’t have OLBs that can cover for the 3-4 defense if that’s what their running. If we’re running a 4-3 then we have nothing but 300 pound dline men and that is not what you need to run an 4-3 defense. Where are the edge/pass rushers? Cornerbacks let’s not even go there, NUFF SAID!
Now the coaching staff I don’t want to trash Gase and his crew just yet but apparently what their doing isn’t working. Buffalo coaching staff obviously is coaching their team up correctly. Their scheming for every game correctly. Now their only 2-0 so let’s not get ridiculous here from the looks of it, this team can legitimately win 10-12 games this year. You could see last year this team development and where they were going. I just didn’t think they would be here this fast.
Buffalo is a young feisty team that never says die. They don’t have premium wide receivers but their receivers do their jobs and get it done. Ours is missing in action. Now what I don’t know or see is what their oline is about but obviously their doing just fine so far. Ours can’t block worth shit! Now what I will say is that our GM and our HC I won’t put all these problems on. They just got here this year but they have to fix this shit. Buffalo appears to be years ahead of us and they will be the team to challenge the Patriots over the next 2-3 years because they were build correctly.
